The good looking 1950 GMC 100 pickup was on display at the 2024 Basehor-Linwood High School car show held in Basehor Kansas.

The 1950 GMC truck is a slightly bigger, more powerful and stronger version of the 1950 Chevrolet truck. The GMC and Chevrolet trucks shared identical transmissions, suspension and bodies, but the GMC featured a thicker frame and larger engine. Chevy pickups shared its engines with General Motors' automotive lines. GMC had specially manufactured truck engines. Although GMC and Chevrolet shared most of the same sheet metal, GMCs had a distinctive grille, tailgate, hubcaps and exterior colors.

Power

The 1950 GMC base engine for the half-ton pickup was the 228-cubic-inch in-line six-cylinder. In contrast, the base Chevrolet model featured the smaller 216.5-cubic-inch straight-six. The 93-horsepower 228 had a 3.6-inch cylinder bore and a 3.8-inch stroke. The 228's compression ratio was 8-to-1. The optional 110-horsepower 248 straight-six had a 3.7-inch bore and 3.8-inch stroke and 7.5-1 compression. The biggest powerplant available on the GMC truck was the 115-horsepower 270 six-cylinder with a 3.7-inch bore and 4-inch stroke. The 270's compression ratio was 7.5-to-1. Canadian versions of the 1950 GMC truck were equipped with Chevrolet's 216 straight-six with 228 and 248 available as options. Another significant difference between the GMC and Chevy models was that the GMC used a six-volt positive ground electrical system, while Chevrolet was equipped with a six-volt negative ground system.

Size

Like its Chevy sibling, the GMC pickup included the half-ton, three-quarter ton and 1-ton models. The Chevys featured wheelbase of 116, 125.25 and 137 inches, while the GMC wheelbases were two inches longer for each of the three models to accommodate the larger engines. Body dimensions, however, were identical with the cargo boxes measuring 50 inches wide and 78, 87 or 108 inches long. The 1.5-ton and larger GMC stake bed and flatbed trucks rode on either a 137-inch wheelbase with a 105.5-inch bed and 9-foot total length or a 161-inch wheelbase with 148-inch bed and a 12-foot total length.

Chassis, Brakes and Suspension

All GMC trucks featured all-wheel drum brakes, a forged steel I-beam front axle and hypoid single reduction full floating rear axle. The rear suspension featured steel leaf springs with the front and rear both equipped with tubular shock absorbers. A three- or four-speed manual transmission matched the engines. The four-speed was optional on the half-ton and three-quarter ton models and standard on the 1-ton and larger versions. For 1950, General Motors engineers abandoned the process of bolting together the cab and welded the cab to minimize road noise and vibrations caused by the stiff frame. The cab also rode on the frame cushioned with a three-point suspension system for a smooth ride. The gross vehicle weight rating ranged from the half-ton's 4,100 lbs. to the 3-ton's 26,000-lb. rating.

The Daniel Adamson is a small powerful canal steam tug vessel . she was built at Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead in 1903 to tow barges from Cheshire and the Potteries to the seaport of Liverpool. She was originally named the Ralph Brocklebank after a former chairman of the Mersey Docks & Harbour Board and member of shipping dynasty T & J Brocklebank .In 1936 the Ralph Brocklebank was given a radical refit and her name changed to that of the ship canal’s founding father and first MSCC chairman, Daniel Adamson. In 2004 she was earmarked for scrapping but immediately the Daniel Adamson Preservation Society was formed . Their commitment and fundraising drive paid off, and in February 2015 the Heritage Lottery Fund awarded £3.8m to fully restore the Daniel Adamson. DAPS with its volunteer members skills , enthusiasm, and time , have now fully restored the vessel back to full working order

An owl's eyes are supported by bony eye sockets and they can’t turn their eyes. Instead, owls rotate their heads up to 270 degrees, but they can’t turn their heads all the way around. An owl has three eyelids: one for blinking, one for sleeping and one for keeping the eye clean and healthy.

!!!!!!!!

And… a group of owls is called a parliament, wisdom or study. Not sure if “parliament” always represents “wisdom”?!

My Most Powerful Villain Characters

You get what this is about :P

(Top to bottom - from most powerful to least)

Halo: A Genetically Engineered weapon who was created by humans to be a desired host for the most powerful weapon on the planet. The alien tech grants the user unimaginable powers to defend the planet from extraterrestrial threats and keep humanity safe. However the engineered human used it against humanity in the future to eradicate every meta on the planet within a week to create a safer world for normal humans. He slaughtered both hero and villain alike without remorse because of him perceiving them as a threat and now hunts down the few meta survivors which are attempting to travel back in time and thwart his attempts of meta annihilation.

OP Ability: Can incinerate organic items with just a look.

Evol: This alien comes from a powerful species who's females all died out, with only a limited number left they branched out across the galaxy to find other desirable Mates capable of providing female offspring to save their species. However their mating ritual is to literally defeat all the strong rival males on the planet first then select a suitable female to breed with, once this happens the offspring (if male) will develop into a fully grown member of the species within a couple days and rule the planet to "mark it" as their own.

OP Ability: Can shatter a planet with just a flurry of punches.

Dr. Toxic: Truly a ruthless villain that runs one of the largest illegal science research facilities across the globe. Once a brilliant scientist this man eventually became one of the most infamous criminal beings on Earth and is pretty much untouchable with the amount of resources he possesses, it is believed he essentially created the first Metas on Earth back in the 1940's and developed millions of them over the years. He may not like to get his hands dirty but when he does he is capable of defeating large waves of some of the most powerful heroes on the planet because of his variation of powers and unique ability.

OP Ability: He can nullify a beings strongest powers and reduce them to have the same attributes as an average human temporarily just by touch.

Phantom: This man was once an anti-meta soldier fighting in the Serbia war against a Metahuman uprising, until he discovered he in fact was a Metahuman. His ability was activated when he came in contact with an enemy which caused him to be betrayed by his fellow squad and outcasted. Rather than become what he despised to get revenge he used his ability to his advantage by weakening Metas behind enemy lines to redeem himself for being a Meta to the military.

OP Ability: He can obtain multiple abilities forever from metas and keep them stored and ready to be used whenever he desires via close contact.

Hybrid: A meta who quickly discovered his ability to unlock his powerful beast form from a young age. As he got older he quickly grew stronger and more savage which allowed him to battle with multiple Metahuman heroes and become a greatly feared villain because of his rare powers.

OP Ability: His strength, durability, speed, healing and stamina rapidly increases to double that of his foes capabilities, this allows him to best his rival when in close combat no matter how fast or strong they are.

DetonHate: A member of the Bomb Disposal Unit that looked up to many heroes and inspire him to do his job. However when he encountered a unique device that released a mutagen he would soon become a living bomb with a unique ability that caused mass chaos without intention of him doing so. Despite him being terrified and seeking help he would swiftly be attacked by a group of unprofessional heroes that treated him as a regular villain, he would then later escape and become a villain himself when joining T.O.X.I.N. which is helping him to control his powers.

OP Ability: Any metallic substance he touches explodes in a large blast of green energy minutes after coming into contact with his skin.

Bulletstorm: One of a select group of children that were used for a dark experiment called, Project Bloodbath. This man endured horrific augmentation to become a living weapon which had blood manipulation abilities, when he witnessed a fellow prisoner escape and he thought they would return with help. For days it would be his only shimmer of hope but eventually it was crushed when nobody came to rescue him. This sent him over the edge and he became the weapon the organisation wanted him to be, he became Bulletstorm.

OP Ability: He can create an infinite amount of ammunition by using his enemies blood or his own and manipulate it into self-reloading his weaponry during combat. This allows him to fire his dual UZI's continuously when in combat without the need to reload.

Destron: Although this guy only had super strength and stamina he always seemed to be defeated by heroes, so he upped his game and purchased a unique suit created from the indestructible alien metal known as, Destrite. This allows him to be coated in an indestructible suit whilst maintaining his super strength and stamina to compensate for the weight of it. He has endured many wounds that would have been fatal before though such as he survived an all out punch by the powerhouse Hero know as, Hope.

OP Ability: Is pretty much indestructible and sealed in a protective suit to stop any internal damage to his body.

Miss Sting: For some reason she is deemed a C-Lister because of her appearance when in theory she is extremely powerful. She is an environmental terrorist that gets her messages across through violent acts and brawls with heroes, she is often mocked for her full body orange skintight suit but that's only so it matches her dangerous ability.

OP Ability: She can generate two huge tentacles that erupt form her sides, this allows her to bring down skyscrapers and even launch items into near orbit with how strong they are. They are both regenerative and conduct massive amounts of electricity which when "stung" is fatal, her stings often incapacitate the strongest and toughest of heroes as well as villains for up to days before they can recover.

There are just some photographs that need to be in monochrome or black and white. It gives a more powerful statement to the photo and what the photo is depicting. Such as the case here, when Ella came to visit today.

This 'powerful and legendary' 1947 Ferrari was on display at the LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma Washington. On the sign in front of this beauty, it reads: "The 166 Spyder Corsa was the first Ferrari model sold to the public, beginning in December, 1947. The car here, serial number-004C, is the oldest complete Ferrari Spyder Corsa in existence with original castings, fasteners, and an extensive documented history. It features an all alloy body. With its heads and block cast in May and June, 1946, a month before famed Ferrari designer Gioacchino Colombo singed off on the drawings, motor number 004C is the oldest complete, and still running, Ferrari engine known to exist."

I was told from a museum worker that this Ferrari is the most valuable car there. It's estimated value is over 4 million dollars.

I took a lot of images while in the museum, but have only posted one other image. It's in the comment box.
