This powerplant was built in the 1920's and was a high end powerplant at that time, built to gain electricity through burning coal. It has been expanded during the decades but, as many powerplants built for coal, was closed down in the 1990's.

I photographed these cooling towers yesterday at dusk after reading about them in Sunday's paper. I'd not see them before and it took me a while to discover the best viewpoint to photograph them, about 2km away from the power station. I'm currently writing a blog post describing how I used Google Maps, Google Street View and PhotoPills to find an unobstructed viewpoint with easy parking at the right time of day.
