This image is based on an actual vehicle modelled by Oxford Diecast but with added Post Office crown. It depicts an interesting use for a war-surplus Bedford truck. The QLT was the troop-carrying variant of the Bedford QL range and featured a longer body than the more common general service version. In the early post-war years, Post Office Telephones operated a large fleet of former military vehicles. In the case of the QLT, its all-wheel drive be would have been ideal for linesmen engaged in infrastructure away from surfaced roads (updated 04-Aug-24).

While walking through different parks lately, I seem to notice that the chickadees are particularly active. As soon as you step into their territory, they swoop down around you expecting some food. I suspect that they're getting ready for the colder weather and are desperate especially for sunflower seeds. This is a sketch I made of a chickadee collecting seeds from a post. I made it on my iPad Pro based on a photo that I took.
En me promenant dans différents parcs ces derniers temps, il me semble que les mésanges sont particulièrement actives. Dès que vous entrez sur leur territoire, ils s’enfoncent autour de vous et attendent de la nourriture. Je soupçonne qu'ils se préparent au froid et qu'ils sont désespérés, en particulier pour les graines de tournesol. Voici un croquis que j'ai fait d'une mésange ramassant des graines d'un poteau. Je l'ai fait sur mon iPad Pro à partir d'une photo que j'ai prise.

Bricks Cascade 2017 recap time!
First off, the general convention vibe was great. Compared to BrickCon, there was a lot more floor space, and yet the Technic section managed to be one of the most packed themes there. Everyone was quite welcoming, and new friends were made (always a plus)!
As for models, both the Koenigsegg and the Subarute were received very well. My last parts for the Subarute showed up on Saturday at 12:30ish, so I had to frantically build for a few hours to get the model to where it is now. Thankfully, it got done before Sunday's public hours, where it received quite a bit of attention. The Koenigsegg, of course, received it's usual "KOENIGSEGG!!!" and "Is that a Ferrari/Lamborghini/Saleen S5?" comments, and it was great seeing faces light up when I'd open the doors. The One:1 also won the award "Technic-al Achievement", which came with the Cargo Plane set you see in the photo (Convention organizers take note: trophies are better when they come with a set!).
On the topic of sets, I picked up two copies of 42063 while making a LEGO store run, along with the Claas tractor, which I and two other Technic builders drafted out (hence the big ziploc of Technic pieces). Off-screen are also two small boxes of system pieces that I'll need to sort through....
...which brings me to my next point. Everything in the picture (plus the two boxes of system and the Binary Clock model that's collecting dust) needs to be disassembled and sorted before I start my next model. Of course, I'm keeping the trophy intact, and I've got fairly accurate LDD models of both the Koenigsegg and the Subarute in the event that I need to rebuild them. The only thing is, my current LEGO sorting setup is already at the overflow point, and that's without the Koenigsegg and Subaru BrickLink orders (let alone the 3 sets and heaps of bulk). Guess it's time to buy some more storage containers!
Overall, Bricks Cascade was an absolute blast. It's great to finally go to a convention that's 20 minutes from home rather than 3.5 hours away, and the friendly environment made me feel quite at home. Plus, who can say no to free LEGO?

Il Posto di Telefonia Pubblica (PTP) ha da sempre rappresentato un servizio importantissimo a causa della bassa diffusione del telefono nelle abitazioni. Fino all'arrivo del cellulare era l'unico mezzo di comunicazione a disposizione se si era fuori casa. Davanti a un telefono pubblico si accettava anche di fare lunghe code pur di riuscire a fissare appuntamenti, aggiornare i familiari sui propri spostamenti o tenersi in contatto dai posti di villeggiatura. Le insegne venivano installate sul muro presso i bar a parete verticale o sopra le cabine telefoniche.
