It's a poster, it's a papertoy, it's both!
Here's my poster for the Urban Paper show that I'm organizing in Tokyo. It will be at Café Pause in Ikebukuro and will run from Sept. 7th to the 20th. Since not everyone who was in the book will be in the show, I didn't want to use the photo collage from previous shows that included all the designs. I also wanted to come up with something that more generically addressed the idea of papertoys and could actually BE a papertoy as well, but one that could also work as a flat image. So the poster is also the "official" mascot of the Tokyo show.
A charming reproduction of a Caledonian Railway poster found in a small booklet/folder called "Travel Notes" issued by the Southern Railway to assist travellers to the Continent. The folder includes a pocket for travel documents as well as many pages of adverts.
The folder must have been issued just after the 1923 Grouping as although the main text refers to the Southern Railway, elsewhere it appears as the either still the South Eastern & Chatham Railway or the Southern Railway (S. E. & C. Section) as well as including adverts such as this for the Caledonian that would have been, by the time of printing, part of the London Midland & Scottish Railway. The poster is interesting in that is squarely aimed at a female audience for golf.

Really proud and honoured to work with Sid Lee for Sport Chek's latest campaign for the Toronto Raptors called #MyNorth. This project meant a lot to me as it's for my hometown Tdot and I get to hand draw all 9 neighbourhoods that make up the GTA.
This was definitely one of the most ambitious illustration projects I have taken on to date. The illustration took over 160 hours to finish which included countless all nighters and weekends. Special thanks to the talented Joanna Ambrosio for assisting me with this project. We've been enjoying all the photos of the actual posters, billboards and paste ups we've been seeing through other people's Instagram posts from Toronto.

This art represents the song Welcome To The Jungle, and one of the most remarkable scenes of the video and where Axl is sitting in a chair with a straitjacket, watching TV's with all the violence of this wild world where we live. "You know where you are? You're in the jungle, baby. You're gonna dieeeeee." I created the monster in the jungle that also represents our inner monsters, our sorrows, our pains ... Oftentimes we find ourselves in a straitjacket, where we can do nothing! *Technique used: Drawing painted with pencil water soluble and then digitized.*
Art completed on 08/31/2018.
