Today I had no idea and nothing I put on a reflective surface worked. So I went for a walk and got the mail on the way in. Found I got a postcard from Costa Rica with an electric blue butterfly on it. Bingo! I had my background!
Neuschwanstein was built in 1869 for King Ludwig II. of Bavaria erected as an idealized idea of a knight’s castle from the time of the Middle Ages. The designs were created by Christian Jank, the design was taken over by Eduard Riedel and Georg von Dollmann. The king lived only a few months in the castle, he died before the completion of the plant. Neuschwanstein is the most famous of the castles of Ludwig II. and one of the most famous sights in Germany. It is visited annually by about 1. 5 million tourists – now also by me. Here is a classic view of the south side from the Marienbridge at the blue hour, which required some patience on the part of the photographer until the bridge was finally deserted and barely moved.

Mark Knopfler - Postcards From Paraguay
www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2UISeUv4d0
One thing was leading to the next
I bit off more than I could chew
I had the power to sign the cheques
It wasn't difficult to do
I couldn't stay and face the music
So many reasons why
I won't be sending postcards
from Paraguay, from Paraguay, from Paraguay
I robbed a bank full of dinero,
A great big mountain of dough
So it was goodbye companero
and cheerio
I couldn't stay and face the music
So many reasons why
I won't be sending postcards
from Paraguay, from Paraguay, from Paraguay
I never meant to be a cheater
But there was blood on the wall
I had to steal from peter
to pay what I owed to paul
I couldn't stay and face the music
So many reasons why
I won't be sending postcards
from Paraguay, from Paraguay, from Paraguay

POSTCARD WORTHY is the topic for Friday, October 22, 2021, Group Our Daily Challenge
I have to go to this castle a couple of times a year, it is worth a visit at any time of the year.
This morning the sun was shining so beautifully, but when I got there the sun was gone ...

Ich muss dieses Schloss ein paar Mal im Jahr besuchen, es ist zu jeder Jahreszeit einen Besuch wert.
Heute morgen schien so schön die Sonne, doch als ich dort ankam war die Sonne verschwunden....
I have always loved this scene that is shown on travel posters and promos on television. Gondolas are truly magnificent boats. Their timeless beauty adorn the waters of Venice as a testament to the romantic allure of this city surrounded by water.
per favore, gioca, gioca e poi gioca, fino a quando puoi.
e se il tuo quando puoi si avvicinasse poi ad un sempre, beh, io, qui, sarei felice.
e mica solo per te.

The windmills are the quintessential features of Mykonos landscape. There are plenty of them that have become a part and parcel of Mykonos. Visitors to Mykonos can see the windmills irrespective of the locale. From a distance, one can easily figure out the windmills, courtesy of their silhouette. They are primarily concentrated in the neighborhood of Chora and some are also located in and around Alevkantra. These innovative wheels were primarily used for crushing agricultural yields. In all, there were 16 such windmills in operation.
They are conspicuous by their snow-white color, spherical shape with the customary pointed roof made of the finest variety of wood. In the good old days, they were wind operated as Mykonos is renowned for their gusty wind, which continues to blow even today. The Windmills of Chora and the ones at Ano Mera were a great boon to the people of those localities and they were primarily used for grinding the agricultural products that were meant to be transported to places outside Mykonos.
As of now, with the advent of modernity, the windmills are no longer operational. But they continue to be a symbol of Mykonos rich virile past. Being hundreds of years old, most of the windmills have been thoroughly renovated and some have even been converted into museums, the most famous being the Bonis Windmill.
Mykonos windmills are a living testimony of the island's use of innovation when it came to tapping the enormous power of the wind to grind Mykonos agricultural produces.

I think it will be better, if you view it in large
Loved this old motel on Route 66. The pink doors and the rusty Packard out front had such a 1950s vibe. It has lived as motel all these years, it's awesome to see it still going! It's like walking back in time.

A shot that didn't made the cut at the time but which has some merits I think, not least because metre gauge trains are now a thing of the past here.
The shot was taken at Ringas Junction, Rajasthan and features NWR liveried Alco YDM4 unit 6637 waiting time with the 6.20am Sikar - Jaipur (train 02088).
It was breakfast time and plenty of passengers were taking advantage of the extended stop to grab a bite to eat at one of the concessions on the platform at right - taking the direct route across the tracks was, and is, pretty normal. A couple of folk have spotted me too, including the driver, (I was hardly incognito in a white sun-hat) and are quite happy to get themselves in the shot.
Semaphores were still in use and these were controlled by two signal boxes, one at each end of the station. This side of the station was still exclusively metre gauge but, out of sight on the right, broad gauge track had already been laid and BG trains were running.
So far as I can make out the line from here to Sikar has now been converted to BG and is operational; the line to Jaipur however is still being converted and, presumably, will be operational soon.

My eyes are white circles
above cheekbones on fire:
Pale hand gripping my pen.
Rounding up to the zero,
adding infinite fractions,
Letting nine become ten.
Two pink doves strut the shingles
Picking crumbs from the breakfast I saved
For you dear. and I wish you were here
On this postcard day.
Focus on the fine
indeterminate line
Where the sky meets the sea.
Desperate midweek words,
banal and absurd
Freely flow out of me.
Well, I may be a hostage to summer
But I'm a hostage, not a slave.
And I'm clear that I wish you were here
On this postcard day.
Precious cargo of flotsam:
mixed memories on an ocean tide
Swim madly with spice from the orient
On a mystery watery carpet ride.
But with the sun going down,
the wind goes around;
Blows them back out of mind.
My eyes are white circles
staring down past the point
Of my restless pen.
While the ghosts of my youth
all sworn to the truth
Call my name again.
Two brown legs don't make a summer.
But two brown arms couldn't keep me away.
Well, my dear, I wish you were here
On this postcard day.

Built for the Sailors and Boatmen category of the Summer Joust
I had fun creating this tiny imaginary port city. I like to imagine this as a postcard a sailor might send home to loved ones as a glimpse into their far away voyages.

Taken on Weybourne Beach, Norfolk, England. Just between me an you Weybourne is a great place to take photos, with cliffs, boats, tractors, a pebble beach, a windmill, fields, wild flowers, bird life, fishermen, the sea and the odd WW2 defensive structure you can always find something interesting to capture.
Welcome 2014 :) I hope everyone enjoyed or are still in the process of welcoming the new year. My last day of 2013 was a bit of an emotional roller coaster at first but then it turned out just fine. Looking forward to catching up with everyone :) This is one of my last images from 2013. That's my girlfriend over there while we wonder around on the beach. Later everyone :) Peace!
To accompany the shot of the bridge from underneath, here is the view of the Ironbridge from the south bank, looking across to the village of Ironbridge.
A random selection of some postcards I have.
Better viewed large, and thank you for your favourites. :)
