This is an area known as Docklands in Melbourne. Not sure why the cone-shaped caps on all the posts. Perhaps to keep birds from landing on them.

Wondering if this is the earliest sighting of a "Post No Bills" warning in our photos (in the archway at the right - no. 18). This is Shop Street, Galway obviously bathed in glorious sunshine, with a horse-drawn tram that's a little full, to say the least. Also delighted to spot the beautifully dressed woman with her bicycle.
Not too sure about date, so hopefully there are some clues in this shot to help us... This tram leaves us between 1879 and 1918, from Niall McAuley's link about the Galway and Salthill Tramway Company. And Niall also points out that if the photographer had turned left (and gone through a hole in the space-time continuum!), then he would have seen this view.

Right, based on the comments below from Niall McAuley, DannyM8, RETRO STU and blackpoolbeach, we're going to go mad altogether and posit 1910 as a date for this one!

1. NO NO NO... cioè ragazzi non ci siamo non ci siamo non ci siamo
uno sta qui ad aspettarsi che la gente inizi a protestare del fatto che l'attesissimo video dell'estate anno 2012 ancora non è stato proposto e invece scopre, al contrario, che nessuno chiede e tutto tace.
Non dico che mi sarei aspettato mobilitazioni, gente in piazza con striscioni o attivisti che nella blogsfera criticano l'ingiustificato ritardo di questo pigro uomoragazzo, però almeno qualche commento incazzato "quaella", qualcuno che dice... se entro tale data non sarà proposto il video allora...
Invece... niente.
Tutto tace.
E io mi crogiolo in questo silenzio. E, pigrissimo, ancora non ho mosso un dito.
2. Sono in una fase di acquisto compulsivo nonostante le finanze siano sempre le stesse. Dunque giro per negozi, prendo cataloghi di tutto, poi rimugino e ci penso e poi ritorno. Sono arrivato alla conclusione che in questi giorni andrò un po' incazzato alla coin; oltre a scattarmi un'autofoto nel camerino, chiederò se quella giacca scozzese di quella marca che ho visto nel catalogo, loro intenderanno proporla o no. Perché non l'ho trovata, non c'è! Coin: decidi!!!!!.
Figlio del consumismo, vivo in questo modo la quinta stagione che secondo i cinesi in questo periodo stiamo attraversando. A proposito...
3. Lo dico.... e che diamine: questo è un post-verità o no?
Ho iniziato qi gong.
Oltre a me ci sono due anziane, una maestra e un matto ballerino effeminato perennemente incazzato come una pantera. A volte siamo in tre. Ogni tanto sorrido. Dentro, ma anche fuori. E faccio il passo dell'orso, il saluto a non so cosa, prendo la palla di piombo e inspiro. Poi mi cullo e dondolo le braccia. Per un'ora il lunedì e per un'ora il mercoledì.
Non è un gioco né uno scherzo. In effetti quelle sere sto particolarmente bene. L'ho preso seriamente... dentro me. Però capisco che il me che sta fuori non può non ridere a vedermi mentre mi adopero al passo della fenice rossa concentrandomi sui i draghi dentro di me. E poi ancora mi sfuggono i collegamenti degli elementi, con gli animali e le parti del corpo. Ogni tanto il "Maestro" dice... l'intestino biliare corrisponde al cuore che fa parte della tigre e, quindi, siamo nella seconda stagione che equivale al legno! Ecco, frasi del genere, del genere perché ho messo a caso gli elementi, non le capisco!
4. per la notte del 6 ottobre ho prenotato una simpatica quadrupla più letto aggiuntivo (in pratica un piano di un albergo) a Ferrara. Quest'anno al festival di internazionale ci porto tutti: Sara, Giacomo, Chiara, Francesco. Una carovana incredibile. Se tutto va come deve rincontrerò andrea, clelia, vale, erni e qualcun altro. E questa possibilità di rivedere gente a me cara, aumenta una sensazione già bellissima che viviamo in famiglia per effetto di questa due giorni fuori casa. Ci seguirà Fede, che è il mio consueto compagno di viaggio. Sarà un festival differente in cui, salvo eccezioni, vedrò poche conferenze nei teatri e mi concentrerò su quelle all'aperto, sulle mostre e sui laboratori, specie quelli per bambini. Noi non vediamo l'ora, specie di vivere quell'ambiente magico che tinge ferrara durante i giorni del festival. In casa, c'era proprio bisogno di questo appuntamento a breve. Basta poco per dare una sferzata.
Oggi mentre correvo pensavo al fatto che al festival sono andato tantissimi anni. La prima volta nel 2008. E so cosa aspettarmi: andiamo al dunque.
Consigli per le donne: Birkenstock A pantofola (anche se è freddo). Fascia nei capelli. Pantaloni larghi. Sciarpone colorato.
Per i maschi: barba incolta, rivista e/o quotidiano sotto il braccio. Mela. Jeans. Tennis (meglio se marroni)
Per tutti: mini moleskine con matita per prendere appunti. Preferibilmente porre domande in inglese. Portarsi dietro la carta di identità (anche se scaduta) da lasciare in pegno per le cuffiette della traduzione simultanea. Ovviamente solo se non capisci le lingue, come me.
5. giacomo torna da scuola e dice... niente. Se tu poni domande lui dice: niente!. Cosa hai fatto? Niente! Ma la maestra dice... Niente! Poi lo vedo all'entrata a scuola e sale sereno. All'uscita parla coi compagni. Il quaderno è ordinato. E scrive.
Quando vuole, inizia a dire...cose! Un puzzle.

The Ho Chi Minh City Post Office is located just across the road from the Notre Dame Cathedral. It's a tourist attraction too.

On April 18 the sun experienced a coronal mass ejection (CME) and spewed sun gunk at the Earth causing some areas to experience auroras. I happened to be out that night and saw something ghostly shifting above which was probably an aurora. Or perhaps more likely aliens in the form of broad, undulating swathes of pale light.
The next morning I took this picture of the sun exhibiting a bad complexion. Forgive me when I anthropomorphize. I'm new to astrophotography.
I've gotten into astrophotography because I'm always in need of a new hobby. I don't ever wish to be bored.

Few days later there was a first day of spring. But the weather here in Kiev decided otherwise - there will be a snow at last! That was really unexpected and broke my plans to test my new addition to lenses - Sigma 10-20mm DC EX. But anyway some shots were made and here is one :)
