I suspect a juvenile Male Harrier poses on a fence post for me recently in Eastern Ontario. It flew across the little roadway that I was using and along the fence line...when I saw it all I could think was "go to the post, go to the post" because I certainly didnt have time to get out of my vehicle and catch its rear end in the camera...It went to a post and stayed long enough for me to capture a few moments of this beautuful looking hawk!!! Hope you enjoy this as much as I did seeing and photographing it!!!

I have posted numerous photos of my rescue dog "Hobbes"...yet I have another rescue by the name of "Grace". It is a long story, but I basically adopted her 6 years ago to be a companion to Hobbes. I actually went to an adoption event with the intent of adopting a dog named Grace. Well, the real Grace greeted Hobbes and me with a stern growl...and she just looked mean. So, I'm standing there with Hobbes and one of the volunteers walked by with this little Black & Tan dog...and the dog stopped and sniffed at Hobbes...there was a connection...so I adopted the Black & Tan dog and called her Grace. I should have known something was wrong when I had to basically drag her through the pet store to get some supplies. The volunteer said she was a little shy. This poor creature was terrified of everything...she was only 7 month's old. At first I tried to make her love me...which of course failed miserably. Fast forward 6 years...Grace is more confident, but needs time to adjust to the most minor of changes. The only time I can pet her is in the morning, when she'll come from the foot of the bed and lay next to me and exchange kisses for belly rubs.. She is just crazy I guess...she loves me the best she can...but hey, it's love.

Amazing how the removal of color makes this scene appear as though Hollywood created it for a post-apocalyptic movie, when in fact it took the apathy of millinia, not the instantaneous destruction of nuclear war, to create this look.
Corner post.
His hands were gnarled as the tree that he had hand sawn and shaped to make the post.
Using just his bare hands, a crow bar and a long handled shovel he toiled for hours to dig the hole wide enough and deep enough.
Once he had reached the required depth he used the old tractor connected to a chain to drag the post as close as he could the hole in the ground.
Releasing the post from the chain and tractor he then used the crow bar to lever and manoeuvre the post.
He struggled that old man, he prised and pushed and shoved.
Not a word of curse was uttered.
He did eventually reach that point where he was able to reconnect the chain to the post and he was able to use the hydraulics on the tired old tractor to raise the post just barely high enough for him to finally prise into the correct position where it could be released.
With the post now embedded the old farmer then began the task of running the wire and and using a wire strainer applied the required tension.
The corner post has long survived the old man.
It is a reminder of the hard work and dedication that the old farmer has now left as a legacy.
It is almost certain that it will also survive the shed that the old man built in a time long past when he was a much younger man.

On the plus side, when it *does* finally stop raining, the greens are lush and full and everything looks so vibrant.
