“You want me to give her a key?" the guy asked.

"I want you to give her a possibility," she told him. "And that's what a key represents. An open door, a chance. You know?”

They are individually in my photostream. My two favorites are probably the glue nozzle and the balloon animal. Which of the four would you choose?

I am capable of creating hundreds of such landscapes, which leads me to ponder the evolving significance of photographing landscapes. With the advent of AI-generated landscapes, the straightforwardness and novelty of capturing natural scenes through traditional photography begin to fade. In the past, photography was regarded as a means to preserve and immortalize the beauty of landscapes. It allowed us to capture a moment in time, freezing the essence of a place forever. However, as AI advances and creates astonishingly realistic landscapes, the need for photography as a mere replication of reality becomes less apparent. AI can generate an endless array of landscapes, each unique and crafted with meticulous detail. These digitally created scenes possess a remarkable realism that rivals traditional photography. They offer a seemingly infinite palette of possibilities, where one can explore fantastical realms, reimagine familiar landscapes, or even create entirely new environments. With AI-generated landscapes at our disposal, we are no longer confined to capturing what already exists. We can now delve into the realm of imagination and bring to life scenes that transcend the boundaries of reality. This shift challenges us to redefine the purpose of landscape photography. Instead of aiming to capture the objective reality of a place, photography can become a tool for personal expression and storytelling. It can be a means to convey emotions, evoke memories, or communicate a unique perspective on the world. Photographers can now focus on capturing the fleeting moments, the play of light and shadow, or the human elements that interact with the landscapes. Furthermore, photography can serve as a source of inspiration for AI algorithms. By capturing real landscapes through the lens, photographers can contribute to the training data that informs the creation of AI-generated landscapes. It becomes a symbiotic relationship between human creativity and technological advancement, where each influences and enhances the other. In this evolving landscape of artistic creation, the role of photography is transformed. It is no longer solely about replication, but about interpretation, personal vision, and pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling. While AI-generated landscapes offer incredible possibilities, they cannot replace the human eye and the unique perspective that each photographer brings to their craft. Ultimately, the significance of photographing landscapes lies in the power to capture the intangible essence of a place, to tell stories, and to evoke emotions. It is a realm where artistry, imagination, and technology intersect, forging new paths for creative expression.

Eyes forward...there's a whole world of possibilities waiting for you out there

One of the inner hobbies extending from photography is getting lost somewhere, this moment was no exception. When one can observe, record and appreciate the environment and all the while not really know where you are, that is the hallmark of exploration and it’s a beautiful experience.

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you 😊

According to St. Maximus, this freedom of choice is already a sign of imperfection, a limitation of our true freedom. A perfect nature has no need of choice, for it knows naturally what is good. . . . Our free choice [gnōmē] indicates the imperfection of fallen nature, the loss of the divine likeness. Our nature being overclouded by sin no longer knows its true good, and usually turns to what is ‘against nature’; and so the human person is always faced with the necessity of choice; it goes forward gropingly. This hesitation in our ascent towards the good, we call ‘free will.’ The person called to union with God, called to realize by grace the perfect assimilation of its nature to the divine nature, is bound to a mutilated nature, defaced by sin and torn apart by conflicting desires. It knows and wills by means of this imperfect nature, and is in practice blind and powerless. It can no longer choose well, and too often yields to impulses of nature which has become a slave to sin. So it is, that that in us which is made in the image of God is dragged into the abyss, though always retaining its freedom of choice, and the possibility of turning anew to God.

HMM- for the theme for 4/8 "look up". this is a possibility

btb, did you know that the spaces inside the Os created the silhouettes of a to-go cup and a coffee cup? there you have your new learning of the day.

btb2, set-up shot in the first comment box, to prove it was looking up ~grin~

HSS- did a bit of defining

Tiny brilliant-colored snowplant buds (Sarcodes sanguinea) push up through the newly thawed ground of the Sierra Nevada mountains. It always seems very special to find these small crimson treasures in the spring. The snowplant does not use photosynthesis, it actually grows from fungi under the ground. So, sunlight is not necessary. You will find these treasures usually in the darker places of the forests. (Happy Macro Monday! :)

Think of the inventions and art that might not exist in the world if people hadn't taken the time to dwell in possibility. I worry that we have so many distractions nowdays that perhaps there is going to be a drought of innovation from minds too busy playing video games or worrying about their smart phones. Do people still tinker list they used to?

HMM... the macromonday theme for today, 4/8, is circle. of the 150+ shots i did of various circles, this is one of the brass button ones, but i liked the napkin ring one the best. so no dithering today :)

...for something to happen on such a gorgeous day!

The cage was never locked, but she had forgotten how to push the door. Years of silence had curled around her like vines, holding her in place. One morning, she saw it—a crack of light spilling through the bars, a taste of air that didn’t feel stolen.

She stepped outside, her first breath sharp and alive, filling her lungs with sky. Above her, clouds drifted like promises she could almost touch. A bird soared past, wings slicing the wind, and she felt something stir in her chest—a memory, a yearning.

The sea called her next, its rhythm a heartbeat older than time. She walked to the shore, her footprints new on the sand. The waves kissed her ankles, cool and insistent, as if saying, “Come further.”

She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, the salt and sun tangling inside her. It felt like birth—like the first breath she’d ever taken. In that moment, hope unfolded within her, soft and unbroken.

The cages were behind her now, forgotten. Ahead was only sky, sea, and the endless possibility of flight.

I've always been kind of a back door man, preferring the discrete approach vs. a flashy front door entrance. The door on the right has definite possibilities for a legitimate stealth entry. I'd probably fall down those stairs if they were my chosen entryway.

HMM-- the theme for today, 8/17 is push/pull. found this theme particularly tricky since several of mine were trying to show the push or pull action, which is not easy when simultaneously trying to push the buttons on an iphone ~grin~, so i opted for no action. this may be the best macro of the four and it surprised me to discover that floss was more ribbon-y than thread-y.

Until this year I had never seen a low tide on Brighton beach, despite having lived in the city for 10 years some time ago. An interest in photography opens up so many possibilities. As you can see, I wasn't alone. :)

I have always loved roads like this: you go over the hump and suddenly you see the ocean and life seems full of possibilities.

What would you do if nothing could go wrong?

-- Emily Dickinson

An homage to my friend, Anne, (who is not here on Flickr), someone with an affinity for feathers, who sent me this gorgeous book with a tintype on the cover, saying it would be a fitting place for my poetry. Every blank page is an invitation to possibility.

Early in the morning, before sunset i went to Moraine lake. Unfortunately it was completely clear so no clouds to catch the morning glow. Furthermore i tried to do something different compared to the classic shot, and the trees in the water offered me that possibility. Needless to say this lake is of an extreme beauty! (more to come?!) This shot was taken btw a few hours before I went to lake Louise (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/20279401410).

From 11 june till the 25th of July, I traveled in Canada. Starting in Brighton Ontario, where my sister lives at the border of an amazing part of lake Ontario, I flew to Vancouver, and Vancouver island where I took the boat at Port Hardy to take part 1 of the Inside passage, to Prince Rupert in BC. Two days later I took part 2 to Skagway in Alaska. When coming from Skagway Alaska, you can take the train to Carcross. it is a very scenic train ride that halts at Bennet lake.

And then to Whitehorse and further on by car to Kluane National park in the Yukon district. Whitehorse is situated at the border of the Yukon. Frow there I flew back to Vancouver, rented a car, and traveled three weeks in the BC- and Alberta Rockies, visiting the famous, and less famous Nature parks like Banff and Jasper. Last few days back to Brighton Ontario to enjoy lake Ontario once more, before going home. A picture of my itinerary can be found on Facebook (www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152940536581759&set...).

4000 pictures later, it is quite a task to show the right stuff, although the stunning scenery guarantees at least a few great shots to share. Objective will be to make a book (for myself mainly), and that might take a while.

I hope you will enjoy the impression of my travel, one that equals earlier journeys to Alaska and south America, this journey was the first in the digital era, and equally intensive because of all the hiking activities every day on and on. I loved every minute of it.
