Life speeds up fast. The three days I spent in Japan were a blur. Zipping from one city to the next- Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto- is easy in a country as efficient as Japan. Everything moves just like clockwork.

I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)

2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)

3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

I stopped to shoot this favorite causeway bridge, lit up purple, the MacArthur Causeway, on my way home from the Marlins/Phillies game last Friday night. It's been a while since I've been on Watson Island and there is still a ton of construction going on at night~

I've been a little absent on Flickr of late, due to my INSTAGRAM obsession . . . join me there if you are on Instagram :-)

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law.

Listen! I, Paul, tell you this: If you are counting on circumcision to make you right with God, then Christ will be of no benefit to you. I’ll say it again. If you are trying to find favor with God by being circumcised, you must obey every regulation in the whole law of Moses. For if you are trying to make yourselves right with God by keeping the law, you have been cut off from Christ! You have fallen away from God’s grace.

But we who live by the Spirit eagerly wait to receive by faith the righteousness God has promised to us. For when we place our faith in Christ Jesus, there is no benefit in being circumcised or being uncircumcised. What is important is faith expressing itself in love.

You were running the race so well. Who has held you back from following the truth? It certainly isn’t God, for he is the one who called you to freedom. This false teaching is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough! I am trusting the Lord to keep you from believing false teachings. God will judge that person, whoever he is, who has been confusing you.

ABOUT JACKSONVILLE & ITS BEACHES:

I am a native resident of the unique coastal metropolis of Jacksonville. With more than 850,000 residents living within its limits, Jacksonville is Florida’s largest city and the 12th largest city in the United States. In many ways defined by its aquatic setting, Jacksonville is bisected by the curving, north-flowing St. Johns River and flanked by a beautiful string of islands and beaches including the idyllic towns of Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach, lively Jacksonville Beach, exclusive Ponte Vedra Beach, and an array of preserved city and state park beaches. Between the river and the ocean, scenic expanses of coastal wetlands and oak hammocks provide pretty settings for nature trails and residential neighborhoods alike. Jacksonville is the hub of Florida’s First Coast region, a metropolitan area home to more than 1.5 million residents that has seen European visitors reach its shores since the 1500’s. Jacksonville has been getting increased attention as a destination for its beaches, the arts, sports, dining, and ecotourism.

WHY WE NEED JESUS, AND HOW TO FIND HIM:

We sure live in an amazing world, full of natural wonders, diverse creatures, and reliable scientific forces that all reflect the glory and splendor of Almighty God. From the brilliant reefs to the high-altitude peaks, God's handiwork has inspired generations of travelers to see the far corners of this magnificent planet He created. That said, man is the most special of all God's creations, as it is mankind with whom He seeks a personal relationship. One need not look far, whether in the big cities or remote rural outposts, to see that regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, economic status, or even religious background, all people need a Savior. Though some people strive for perfection, all will always fall short. Fortunately, our Father has seen to it that we don't need to be perfect; we need Jesus. While religion is about man trying to reach God, Christ is God reaching man. Christ died on a cross with all the weight of the past, present, and future sins of humanity on His sinless shoulders. Then, He rose from the dead, conquering death for all eternity. All men and women are broken, but if anyone confesses this brokenness, repents of all that makes him unworthy, and sincerely accepts Christ as Lord and Savior, then the gifts of salvation and eternal life will be his. Too often people find themselves playing games, hiding their true selves, or going through the motions of performing ritualistic "religious" behaviors with apathetic hearts. That said, Jesus already knows everything about every one of us. He created us. He knows our weaknesses, our failures, our temptations, and our insecurities. He sees us for who we really are, regardless of the masks we wear. No amount of money, no respectable status, no fancy clothing, and not even any kind of good works can fool Him. Don't try to be a better version of yourself than you really are. Jesus loves YOU and will meet you exactly where you are. Just be sincere, and if you truly submit yourself to Him, He will help change whatever needs to be changed from the inside out. Trust Jesus! He loves you and wants a relationship with you. Accept Him into your heart, and He will free you from bondage to sin, and the guilt associated with it. If you don't know how to ask Him into your heart, then try saying the following prayer. The exact wording is not important, but the attitude and intentions of your heart are very important. Do it today!

Lord Jesus,

I recognize that I need you in my life.

Thank you for accepting me just as I am.

I seek You and want to receive You as my personal Lord and Savior.

Please come into my heart, and forgive me for all my sins.

I am Yours.

Thank you, Jesus!

Amen!

I joined a Urban Sketchers-Seattle Ad Hoc Sketch-out at Jack Block Park. It was a gorgeous site. I will return many times!!

These sunbathing containers are soaking up the rays, stacked high and ready for their next cargo adventure . They could end up anywhere in the world—Shanghai, Sydney, or São Paulo—just by being next in line for the journey. Each one’s got a story to tell, from rusty edges to faded labels, whispering tales of distant ports. And then, there’s the green one, standing out in the crowd, shouting, ‘I am special!’ Who knows where they’ll go next?

At the Molo Beverello Maritime Station, in Naples, Italy, Roman archaeological ruins are exposed, in situ , discovered during modernization works of the port terminal. These stone masonry structures, possibly foundations of ancient port facilities or commercial warehouses, reveal part of the rich underground heritage of the Greco-Roman Neapolis, attesting to the long and continuous human occupation of this strategic area. The archaeological remains testify to the importance of the port of Naples as a crucial link between Mediterranean maritime trade and the interior of the Italian Peninsula since the Roman Republican period, a function that has been maintained for two millennia. Its preservation integrated into modern infrastructure, complemented by a museum arrangement with decorative gravel and guardrails, allows visitors to observe these testimonies of history while using the ferry terminal to islands such as Capri and Ischia and the Amalfi Coast. This solution exemplifies the successful integration of archaeological heritage into modern transport infrastructures.
