Though this is the last portrait I'm going to show from my recent wanderings, through this experiment #dc_1boston I've found that it, portrait, is a style I connect with, a style I'll continue to explore.. it is both powerful and intimate from behind the lens. Here's a short narrative I wrote about the experience:

Do you see what I see? That long cast shadow from a high cheekbone and bushy eyebrows and dried lips; deep wrinkles, shallow wrinkles, wrinkles in waiting; rouge hair in uncommon places like sprouts of grass in an unkept yard with a sun-powered skin glow, that waxy new leaf bright skin glow, framed by wild hair; and those diamond eyes, crisp, brilliant eyes, glinting and fearless, hinting at the secret. Look closely. See it? That slight narrowing of one eye, those emotional fractions, the complex, convoluted, contoured array of micro curiosities? In the lazy, degenerated stare — focus pending, focus waning — darkness mixed with light, it is beautiful imperfection that I see. It is curiosity, experience, and pleasure, the story of the story of that old leather-bound book, that one with light trapped in its rich, faded skin; it is life.
