Modern columns at the newly opened James-Simon-Galerie (James Simon Gallery) in Berlin-Mitte. James Simon was a German-Jewish textile entrepreneur, art collector as well as patron of the arts, and a philantrophist (who gave more money to welfare projects than to the arts and sciences). He donated many important pieces of his collections to the Berlin State Museums, one of the most notable is the iconic Nefertiti bust. Simon also was one of the first donators to the Technion – the Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa. He was born in Berlin in 1851, where he died in 1932.
The James-Simon-Galerie, designed by David Chipperfield, was opened in July 2019. It is the new visitor centre of the Museum Island and connects the reconstructed Neues Museum and the five museums of the Museum Island.

Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated annually on February 14. Originating as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus, Valentine's Day is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and romantic love in many regions around the world, although it is not a public holiday in any country.

Sevgililer Günü, her yılın 14 Şubat günü birçok ülkede kutlanan özel gündür.

She’s groomed and accessorized for December’s feasts. Ritzy got the full treatment at Hot Dogs & Cool Cats here in Cobb County, GA
You might notice that she’s got problems with her eyes. She’s at least 16 or 17 years old and her right eye has a pretty large cataract. She’s taking it in stride. I hope that we can give her a few more good years.

Sliders Sunday
2DWF: Door(s)/Puerta(s)
My second door for 2DWF's Doors theme, and for Sliders Sunday as well ;-)
Taken at a photowalk with Sabine.R at an abandoned prison in Berlin (please see the first comment). This was an exit (locked, of course, and the door was so rusty that I'm not sure if even the right key could have openend it anymore) from the prison's basement. It was a creepy feeling to know that freedom waited on the other side of that door while we were down there in those dark, sparsely lit hallways... Most of the rooms in the basement were pitch-black, so we used torches to illuminate them. Sabine took a similar capture from this place; we helped each other to properly illumintate those stairs and the rusty door, each holding the flashlights for the other. The colours here are a result of the different light colours our flashlights shed, Sabine's was warmer, a little yellow-ish, while mine was cool and sort of blue.
This one is heavily "HDRed" in Aurora HDR, I've also added a vignette in Analog Efex. And some other stuff which I don't recall ;-) Taken with the little Lumix LX100, because of the 12mm (=24mm) wide angle lens it has, and I'm happy to say that I'm more and more impressed with the image quality this humble 12 MP sensor produces.
Oh, and "Exit = Exit Flickr"...? No. The friendships with fantastic people all around the world that came to be over the years, the things I've learned about photography, this fantastic community... I don't want to lose any of it, it's too precious. But I'm afraid that many "Flickrians" with a free account will consider leaving Flickr now. I can see both sides. The staff, the maintanance, the storage of millions of photos... this all has to be paid for. It's one of the reasons I decided to become "PRO" a few years ago (certainly not because I ever thought a I was Pro, definitely not...). But I am also aware that there are members who can't afford the new PRO subscription. I'd just have wished for a more "varied" approach, one that actually would give members a real choice. Which I'm afraid this very exclusive, "take it or leave it offer" is not. Why not offer three different types of subscriptions, plus the new "free accounts" with limited upload: "Free: no subscription, but upload limited to 1,000 Photos"; "Basic PRO" which would replace the free accounts there are now: unlimited uploads, but for a small annual fee; "Advanced Pro" for those of us who are interested in a few statistics here or there, and "Premium Pro" which would be like the PRO they are offering now. Just a thought...
Ausgang. Verrammelt.
What a great hike to get to this spot. I like horses but not to ride on the back of one of them ;)
So to get to this spot I had to walk carrying all my gear plus wearing rubber boots as the trail was super muddy. What a great memories I have of this amazing place as it was all for me!
Many thanks for your comments, faves, and follows :)

Red-eyed Tree frog from southern Costa Rica, note the different coloration on the sides, they lack the blue stripes or at least they are not as saturated and marked as on the species from the Caribbean side.

Das ist beeindruckend, da andere Methoden versagten.
While visiting the Caribbean lowlands we were treated with a sighing of a colony of boat-billed herons! This guy was a bit bored so he/she yawned while we were taking its picture!
Thanks for looking.
Very nice details along the waters with thick ice shattering up from the pressure and all the ice and snow frosting.
Again i tried my luck at some aurora northern lights but only got a shimmer once again. I tried some lightpainting to create more defining and dynamic foreground. Hope you like it.
