It rained all day the forecast was for cloud in the evening. Late afternoon the sky seemed to brighten and the clouds looked like clouds rather than a grey blanket. I felt sure the skys would clear as it had done this every day for the last week so I gambled and went to Portland Bill. Driving west for an hour I could see a line of clear sky on the horizon. By the time I arrived the clouds had almost completely gone melted away leaving a beautiful stary night. Sometimes the gamble pays off, but you have tomake the effort in the first place to be rewarded.
• I had breakfast this morning in the hotel's dining room, overlooking their garden, a very pleasant way to start the day.
• Chef's Omelette: 3 eggs, breakfast potatoes, buttered toast, local jam; choice of three fillings (cheddar, sausage, mushrooms). Delicious, well-prepared, nicely presented.

No permission. No permits. They just did it.
But it turned out to be amazing. So amazing, in fact, that they got the city to approve it.
Yes, Portland is the greatest city in the United States.
Oh, if any skaters want to shoot photos or videos, feel free to hit me up. I'll do it free.
