Artist Statement:

In The Threshold Knows My Name, I explore the moment before irreversible transformation. The door, open but uninviting, is a liminal space where chaos howls at your back and the unknown stretches ahead. The figure doesn’t run; they walk steadily, deliberately across a tide of red that speaks of loss, violence, or personal cost. The birds are not companions but memories in revolt, writhing around the frame like a storm of consequences. This piece is about stepping into truth, despite what it asks of you. It is about answering when destiny calls you by your true name.

Caption:

Within the jagged hollow of stone, a solitary figure sits encased in a black frame, its chair perched on a pedestal as though awaiting judgment. Beyond the opening, another figure sits in quiet mirroring, their forms aligned yet separated by distance and shadow. The ground bleeds with red reflections, hinting at heat or memory seeping up from beneath, while the frame becomes both a boundary and a portal—capturing the stillness, yet never containing the truth of what lies beyond.

Artist Process:

This composition layers perspective and repetition to create a sense of spatial dissonance. The frame serves as an anchor, drawing the viewer into a controlled space while revealing its own limits through the mirrored figure in the distance. Contrasting textures—polished black surfaces against the rough, organic rock—heighten the tension between constructed and natural forms. The warm red accents are intentionally grounded to the lower plane, pulling the gaze downward and rooting the scene in an atmosphere of latent unease.

Caption:

Within the hollow of a perfect black ring, a figure stands poised—one foot anchored to volcanic stone, the other suspended as if caught in the act of crossing into another world. At the center of this threshold rests a single crimson sphere, pulsing with a quiet, deliberate energy. Around them, the jagged terrain stretches into a blurred wilderness, as if the very air resists clarity, holding its secrets close. The ring becomes both frame and barrier, a silent guardian of whatever power the orb contains.

Artist Process:

The image is built on symmetry and contrast. The glossy black ring forms a closed loop, commanding the viewer’s gaze while framing the red sphere in a natural focal point. The choice of a cool, desaturated background heightens the vibrancy of the crimson, while the figure’s dark attire merges almost seamlessly with the frame—making them appear as both part of the structure and separate from it. Textural detail in the stone base grounds the piece, balancing its abstract geometry with tactile realism.
