A Bee last time , this time it is a Small white Butterfly if I have got my Identifying right . Same plant and same fence as a background !!

This Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) seems very popular with these tiny bees. How many can you count? The 'flower spikes' of this ragweed are exceedingly long and offer pleasant arc for landing locations. My Ozark wildflower book says ragweed seeds are found in several archaelogical sites and are thought to have been cultivated for food.

The Santa Monica Pier is a large double-jointed pier at the foot of Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, California. With an iconic entrance, the pier is popular with residents and visitors as a landmark that is over 100 years old.

Santa Monica has had several piers; however, the Santa Monica Pier is two adjoining piers that long had separate owners. The long, narrow Municipal Pier opened September 9, 1909, primarily to carry sewer pipes beyond the breakers, and had no amenities. The short, wide adjoining Pleasure Pier to the south, a.k.a. Newcomb Pier, was built in 1916 by Charles I. D. Looff and his son Arthur, amusement park pioneers. Attractions on the Pleasure Pier eventually included the Santa Monica Looff Hippodrome building (which now houses the current carousel and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places), the Blue Streak Racer wooden roller coaster (which was purchased from the defunct Wonderland amusement park in San Diego), the Whip, merry-go-rounds, Wurlitzer organs, and a funhouse.

The Carousel was built in 1922 on what was often referred to as a Pleasure Pier and features 44 hand-carved horses. It was rebuilt in 1990 inside the Hippodrome. A calliope provides musical accompaniment.

The La Monica Ballroom opened on July 23, 1924. Designed by T.H. Eslick with a Spanish façade and French Renaissance interior, it was the largest dance hall on the west coast, accommodating 5,000 dancers on its 15,000-square-foot (1,400 m2) hard maple floor. Country music star Spade Cooley began broadcasting his weekly television show from the ballroom in 1948, where the enormously popular program remained until 1954. In the summer of 1955, the Hollywood Autocade opened at the La Monica with one-hundred famous and unusual cars, including Jack Benny’s Maxwell and a Rumpler Drop Car. From 1958 until 1962, the ballroom served as a roller skating rink; first as Skater's Ballroom, and later as the Santa Monica Roller Rink, where the speed skating club won many state and regional championships. The La Monica Ballroom was demolished in 1963.

The Pleasure Pier thrived during the 1920s but faded during the Great Depression. During the 1930s, the pier was mainly used as a ferry landing, while most of the amusement park facilities were closed down and its attractions sold off.[8]

The bridge and entry gate to Santa Monica Pier were built in 1938 by the federal Works Project Administration, and replaced the former grade connection.

The Newcomb Pier was privately owned until it was acquired by the city in 1974.During the 1960s and 1970s various plans were proposed that would entail removal of the pier. The strangest one called for the construction of an artificial island with a 1500-room hotel. It was approved by the City Council, but citizens formed "Save Santa Monica Bay" to preserve the pier.[11] The outstanding order to raze the pier was revoked by the city council in 1973. Within that same year, the Carousel and Hippodrome were memorable sets featured in the film The Sting, although the story was set in Chicago.

In the 1950s, Enid Newcomb suggested to family friend Morris "Pops" Gordon that his two sons, George and Eugene, purchase and operate the Pier’s arcade. It didn’t take much persuasion, for the Gordons instantly took to the Pier and ultimately made Playland Arcade into the Pier’s longest running enterprise offering the day’s contemporary games alongside those of yesterday, providing inexpensive entertainment to a diverse crowd. George’s daughters Marlene and Joanie have kept the business within the family, and the next generation of Gordons is already in training to maintain the family tradition.

In 1983, the Santa Monica Pier experienced a significant loss. On January 27, there were reported swells of 10-feet during this winter storm. When the storm was over, the lower deck of the pier was destroyed. The City of Santa Monica began repairs on March 1, 1983, when another storm rolled in. A crane which was being used to repair the west end was dragged into the water and acted as a battering ram against the pilings. Over one-third of the Pier was completely destroyed.

The City of Santa Monica created a non-profit in response to the damage and called it Santa Monica Pier Restoration Corporation (SMPRC). SMPRC conducted the daily operations of the Santa Monica Pier, such as managing events, filming, promotions, tenants, and street performers. To date, SMPRC has produced the Santa Monica Pier Paddle Board Race and the Twilight Summer Concert Series. Also, in 2011, SMPRC changed the company name to the Santa Monica Pier Corporation (SMPC).

When I took this shot, almost 2 years ago, while on a ferry to Mykonos, I could never imagine it would end up in the April 2009 issue of "POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY" magazine, as well as on their site...

However, this is exactly what happened and I am particularly grateful to the "POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY" people who approached me and asked for the rights to publication.

I might only add this is a profile I am particularly attached to, since I have also used it as foundation for my "Breast Cancer Awareness" message I (re)upload every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Thank you FLICKR for giving all of us the kind of exposure and visibility that landed this profile in a prestigious magazine, thank you POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY for the honor, thank you all!..

En todos los pequeños pueblos de España se celebran múltiples fiestas a lo largo del año. En ellas no falta la Charanga popular.

Today I will answer the most popular questions. And if you do not find your question in the list, write in the comments 💬 I will be happy to answer everyone.

Where is the best place to hold a photo shoot?

Places for a photo shoot are always discussed and selected exclusively from your wishes. For bad weather, you can always use a photo studio.

Do you

give clothes for a photo shoot?

I do not provide clothing, but I can help you choose the necessary option.

We are not models, do you help on the shoot?

Of course😉. I always tell you how best to put your foot, hand, and where to look after all. You don't have to worry. The main task for you is to relax, and I will also help you with this.

When will we get our photos?

It all depends on the workload of me, the photographer. But usually I always say срок when the photos are ready.

Guys, this Castle is a popular tourist spot in Perak, Malaysia. It has always been 'listed' as the most haunted place in Malaysia. So much so, that when we passed by here (we never intend to actually visit it) my sister strictly prohibited me to even go near and capture this mysterious place!! sigh!! She was worried as we had a baby and kids (my nieces..) with us!!

I was really upset coz I could not explore this wonderful place!! Maybe next time when I go without my family members (sometimes outing with family members just suck becoz of this kinna problems.. LOL!!) I can actually get my camera working!!

This was shot just outside my sis's car, so sorry guys it does not show the whole castle. There were trees & plants obstructing the view so I had to crop it!!

Here are the details 'plucked' from Wikipedia;

Kellie's Castle (sometimes also called Kellie's Folly) is located near Batu Gajah, and is about 20 minutes' drive from Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The unfinished, ruined mansion, was built by a Scottish planter called William Kellie Smith. According to differing accounts, it was either a gift for his wife or a home for his son.

Unfortunately for Smith, tragedies struck soon after the construction of the Kellas House began. A virulent strain of the Spanish flu spread from Europe to Asia soon after World War I ended in Europe, killing many of the workers in the Kellas Estate. Another seventy workers constructing Smith's dream castle also became victims of the flu. Smith, who had already spent a fortune on his house, lost a lot of money because of this.

In the end, Kellas House, later known as Kellie's Castle or even Kellie's Folly to some, was never completed. William Kellie Smith himself died of pneumonia during a short trip to Portugal in 1926. His heartbroken wife decided to pack up and return home to Scotland selling the estate and Kellie's Castle to a British company called Harrisons and Crosfield. Descendants of the Tamil labourers brought over to Malaya to work on the mansion still live nearby even now. Kellie's Castle is now a popular local tourist attraction and was used as a setting in the 1999 film Anna and the King.

This is the most prominent, busiest and popular side of Grand Canal. This part of the Rialto bridge is normally full of people all day long. Except if you go for sunrise/dawn; you will find the place for yourself. This evening was not an exception. As I had prior experience of what to expect, I went prepared and went early so that I have time to get the right spot and setup things properly. Setting up a tripod here is close to impossible. So I kept my little pocket tripod with me. It is a bit tough to setup, but it is pretty stable unlike most pocket tripods. It is ruggedly build solid aluminium and has a payload of 8 KG; which is very good for any DSLR. As long as there is a right base to set it up; it is good to go. So I took my time to set it up and then it was all about wait for the right moment to click.

Yet again the mobile photographers were real pain with people almost stretching their arm in front of the camera and even using flash to lit up Venice!!! I had to be very careful and kept the camera strap all the time on my neck as those super excited mobile photographers could anytime hit the camera to send it into the river. I wish there was no mobile camera invented and I wish we were still in the film world where photography was so hard that it was out of reach for most of the people. In modern world, specially with the mobile camera, serious photography is becoming more and more difficult. Specially at the popular places.

However; I am happy as long as people respect others. But unfortunately many mobile photographers have no respect of others and they are mostly unaware of photography. So probably they unknowingly put their arm in front of someone's long exposure without knowing that a camera can capture an image for several seconds. For them, it is just one click. At the same time, the flash is probably also unintentional as the mobiles are in auto and the flash triggers automatically. Many users of the mobile camera don't bother finding out how to switch that off.

Finally when I managed to capture one decent shot, I was super happy as I almost lost my hope. I immediately got out of there leaving rest of the people to fight with their mobile. It was a great relief.

At the end the image was all right and I did manage to capture some of the movements on the water. Even though I wanted a bit longer exposure. It was impossible in that circumstance. So I will content myself with this.

I have read a lot about Venice becoming over crowded. I can relate to it. I visited Venice few times with intervals of some years and indeed; this time I experienced the worse. Many tourists not respectful of the fragile situation of Venice. Throwing garbage all over the place. Throwing bottles into the water. It was a sad scene to experience in this amazing historic city. That is why I liked the dawn photography more. As I could enjoy the calmness with no one around and I could explore the corners at my own pace without any chaos.

Please have a look at my website www.avisekhphotography.com for all my recent works.

Have a nice weekend.

Hope you will enjoy the picture.

Any suggestions or criticisms are always welcome.
