The life-size bronze statue of Cilla Black standing outside the Cavern Club in Mathew Street.
Unveiled in 2017, the statue is a tribute to the local singer who once worked as a cloak room girl at the Cavern before having a successful music career herself.
Discovered by Brian Epstein, the manager of The Beatles, she quickly became a star with her powerful, soulful voice and endearing personality. Her early hits like “Anyone Who Had a Heart” and “You’re My World” topped the UK charts, making her one of the era’s most successful female vocalists. She seamlessly transitioned into television, hosting popular shows such as Blind Date and Surprise, Surprise, cementing her legacy as a versatile entertainer beloved by generations. Her influence on the Merseybeat scene remains iconic, forever tied to Liverpool’s rich musical history.
