Male gelada (Theropithecus gelada), an old world monkey also known as a "bleeding heart monkey" for the bare patch of skin on their chest. Geladas are found only in the Ethiopian Highlands, with a large population restricted to the Semien Mountain region. They are the only primates that are primarily grazers, eating both the blades and the seeds of grasses. This fellow lives in an all-male "bachelor" troop in the Africa Rocks section of the San Diego Zoo.
Conservation status: Least Concern
