I've been doing a lot of paddling lately, usually to the inlet to play with my GoPro and get some Over/Under shots of the Lighthouse. This week I had what seemed like a long shot idea, and, in fact, turned out to be just that. I thought, the Pompano Pier is closed, maybe I can get under it and get some shots of the fish and pilings under the pier. I passed a local police officer as I began my paddle and thought I'd ask if he thought I could go under the pier. Without conviction he thought it would be ok. About 2 miles later, after fighting through the heart of the incoming tide, a marine patrol officer came by to chat. When I asked him, half hoping he would no, he said it would be ok as far as he was concerned. Off I went. Just as I got to the pier came the lifeguard's whistle. Damn, no people on the beach but the lifeguards are on duty! "Just doing his job" I thought as I enjoyed the clear water and the extra workout with the paddle. Back to the inlet for more of shots like this one. It's fun and gets me out of the house. Stay safe, we are emerging , come what may.

(A real sky in this image but I added some light to the lighthouse. It just didn't look right without it!)

Turkey Vultures (Cathartes aura) are very large birds with long wings and small red heads. They have a distinctive slow flight style that helps the birds soar at low altitudes to find decaying animals.

A nonnative invasive species in Florida. Iguanas are large lizards with a row of spikes down the center of their neck and back with dark black rings on the tail. Green Iguanas cause significant economic impacts with damage to residential and commercial landscape & vegetation. They also cause damage to infrastructure by digging burrows that erode & collapse sidewalks, foundations and sea walls. They can create threats to human health by transmission of Salmonella infection through contact with water or surfaces contaminated by their feces.
