Ua Pou is een eiland in de Stille Oceaan en maakt deel uit van de Marquesaseilanden (Frans-Polynesië). Het ligt ongeveer 50 kilometer ten zuiden van Nuku Hiva, het grootste eiland van de Marquesaseilanden. Het hoogste punt van het eiland is Mont Oave, die 1232 meter hoog is.
Ua Pu is the third largest of the Marquesas Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. It is located about 50 km south of Nuku Hiva, in the northern Marquesas. Until the beginning of the 1980s, it was the most populous of the Marquesas Islands, because when the other islands were being ravaged by diseases introduced by European explorers and traders, the Catholic priests on the island finally took to quarantining the remnant of the native population inside their churches whenever visiting ships approached the island, thereby reducing their exposure to external diseases.
The center of the island is characterized by four high basalt pillars that reach high above the surrounding mountains. The highest of these pillars, Mount Oave (Mont Oave), reaches to 1,230 m above sea level and is the highest elevation in the Marquesas.

HUAHINE - FRENCH POLYNESIA
Huahine is an island located among the Society Islands, in French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Leeward Islands group (Îles sous le Vent). The island has a population of about 6,000.
The Fa'ahia archaeological site in the north of the island has revealed subfossil remains of several species of extinct birds exterminated by the earliest Polynesian colonists of the island.

Het is een echte huwelijksreisbestemming, maar als bezoeker moet je er wel rekening mee houden dat het er erg duur is. De naam Moorea betekent "gele hagedis".

Because of its stunning scenery and accessibility to Pape'ete, Moʻorea is visited by many western tourists who travel to French Polynesia. Arthur Frommer declared in Frommer's travel guide that he considered it the most beautiful island in the world.

While having dinner at a Chinese buffet, I ran into this guy at the serving line. I had to get a picture.
The village was a great landmark for judging height as we hiked up to the island's summit. From the numerous jetties, one can see how essential the reef is to life on Maupiti.

Raiatea, is the second largest of the Society Islands, after Tahiti, in French Polynesia. The island is widely regarded as the 'centre' of the eastern islands in ancient Polynesia and it is likely that the organised migrations to Hawaii, New Zealand and other parts of East Polynesia started at Ra'iatea. A traditional name for the island is believed to be Havai'i.
Situated on the south east coast is the historical Taputapuatea marae which was established by 1000AD.
Raiatea vormt samen met het eiland Tahaa een atol gelegen in de Stille Oceaan. Het eiland behoort samen met acht andere eilanden tot de Benedenwindse Eilanden van Frans-Polynesië. Het eiland bestaat uit een uitgedoofde vulkaan en een door een rif omgeven lagune. In het jaar 2002 telde het eiland 11.133 inwoners. De belangrijkste plaats is Uturoa.
