Have you ever watched a bee struggle to get away from a milkweed flower but just continue to repeatedly land and get stuck again? It's a fascinating process that I've been trying to photograph but since they move extremely fast trying to get loose, this is as close as I've come so far. This little guy's back leg is stuck and he struggled for quite a while. It's all part of the milkweed's reproductive process - a little entrapment with irresistible nectar and literal entrapment with a very sticky substance in each little floret's reproductive chamber. When the bees manage to pull a foot out, they often bring with it a pair of pollinia which may eventually wind up on another milkweed. If you look closely, the orangish yellow on his right front leg is a pair of pollinia. You may see bees with chains of them affixed to their feet. Be good to the bees - they work very hard to keep this world beautiful.

I think my cucumber plant has had 20 or so female flowers, but only one male flower. I managed to take the one male flower to pollinated a few female flowers, so hopefully I'll get something. I had to cut off a lot of unpollinated flowers.

I am hand pollinating some of my cucumber flowers to help Mother Nature some. This ensures that every flower gets pollinated. Just helping the bees out a bit.

I have two domed cotoneaster bushes in my back garden which are simply buzzing at the moment, they burst into bloom a few days ago and I counted at least 5 different species of bees and other pollinators on them in the space of a few minutes
