I've come across several of these mini-gardens in Toronto parks planted for the bees. What a great idea. And there were lots of bees!

Not sure what type of bee this is but it was gathering pollen on a purple cone flower.
I hoped this wasp would sit longer on this dandilion, but I only got two shots before it flew off. I think it's a wasp.
A bit of local wildlife in the Parque Central in Valencia. There's such a variety, I wouldn't be surprised to spot zebras next...
Maybe a Sonoran Bumble bee
In addition to honeybees, bumblebees are also dying. Over the past 10 to 15 years, four species of bumble bees have been found to suffer alarming population declines of up to 96 percent. I don't know which species this one is or if it impacted but its important to our crops and flowers.
Finally I can confirm a mature male black-chinned hummingbird. I was above the spillway at the lake & he was going for the red salvia. In this first shot the light was good enough to see some dark purple at the base of his throat. He also was a much lighter green than the deep emerald of a ruby-throated.

The salvia blossoms are too small for her to get into so here she is just about to pierce it at the base of the blossom and get the pool of nectar there. Robbing the plant of nectar without collecting pollen from inside.

This is a shot of the jumping spider Evarcha arcuata just before taking off into my lens. The pollen grains come from running around inside the flower of a Digitalis purpurea.
The shot above is taken with a reversed 50mm on a 100mm macro lens.
This is ecology in action. It looks like this beetle is working as a pollinator for this beautiful flower.
I would love help identifying both the plant and the beetle.
Plants benefit from pollinators because the movement of pollen allows them to reproduce by setting seeds. However, pollinators don't know or care that the plant benefits. They pollinate to get nectar and/or pollen from flowers to meet their energy requirements and to produce offspring. In the economy of nature, the pollinators provide an important service to flowering plants, while the plants pay with food for the pollinators and their offspring.
Pollinator Planets. Two hanging baskets tied together. Filled with Bits of Ben's fur, twigs, hose pipe, ivy, old bark, fluff from the tumble drier, small branches and moss. And a pine circle i have drilled holes in. I am really pleased with it.

Delosperma aberdeenense is a dense, low-growing, evergreen shrub with spreading, often prostrate, branches bearing semi-cylindrical, succulent, mid-green leaves up to 2cm long. Small, daisy-like, purplish-pink flowers are produced in summer.
