Classical Mill:
Although the terms "gristmill" or "corn mill" can refer to any mill that grinds grain, the terms were used historically for a local mill where farmers brought their own grain and received ground meal or flour, minus a percentage called the "miller's toll." Early mills were almost always built and supported by farming communities and the miller received the "miller's toll" in lieu of wages. Most towns and villages had their own mill so that local farmers could easily transport their grain there to be milled. These communities were dependent on their local mill as bread was a staple part of the diet.

I am fascinated by what such a simple snowfall can do with a simple landscape. A walk in early April – with the typical change in weather from warm spring sunshine to bitter cold winter snow. Changeable. A little like painting.

Was so ein einfacher Schneefall mit einer einfachen Landschaft so bewirken kann, fasziniert mich. Ein Spaziergang Anfang April – mit dem typischen Wetterumschwung von warmem Frühlingssonnenschein zu herbkaltem Winterschnee. Wechselhaft eben. Ein wenig wie Malerei.

Mirror images abound combined with pointillism, melded geometrized abstractions, animals birds,and other species that Darwin could not have envisaged plus the odd trip to places totally of the map.

Photo taken on Fuji Pro 400 H color negative film with an Olympus OM-10 camera, 50mm f3.5 Zuiko macro lens, 49mm polarizer, Winder 1 and 49mm circular lens hood then post processed with Microsoft Digital Image Suite to add a painterly effect with a pointillism filter.

A meadow adorned by Indian paintbrush, American bistort, yellow lousewort, and fleabane daisies paints a lovely canvas in front of spires of spruce and granite in the headwaters of Arapaho Creek, western side of the Indian Peaks/ Front Range. Apache (l,13441 ft / 4097 m) and Navajo (r, 13409 ft / 4087 m) peaks make up the skyline.

This is a single exposure of a blossomed tree, created with an ICM technique (pointillism) which I learned lately. It felt so cold these last weeks, one might have thought it could be snowing any moment..
