In Yoruba culture, coloured beads reflect the countless cosmic forces that are believed to exist, which are revealed through Ifá, the act of divination. This divining pointer marked the results of the fall of palm nuts on a divining board. It probably dates from the early 20th century.

Do you remember little Wallace? He’s the pointer puppy that I brought home from the shelter the same day that I brought Tink home. Well, lucky little Wallace was accepted by the Illinois Bird Dog Rescue, and he went up there on 1/23/09.

I just got an email with the following link:

ibrwallace.blogspot.com/

My little Wallace now has his own blog! Check it out - he looks like he’s in a fantastic foster home, and I especially love the photo of him sleeping in his new foster mother’s arms!

I was so happy to get the email. Lots of times I never know what happens to my foster dogs after they go to another rescue group!

Day nine of our walk around the Dingle Peninsula took us from Cloghane Village along Ireland's longest beach to Castlegregory.

As we approach the north end of the beach, black clouds roll in slanting the light low over the dunes and darkening the skies over the hamlet of Fahamore (An Faiche Mór or “the large green”). A sculpture points out to sea.

Cale, the first guide we used in Costa Rica had a couple of crucial tools in his little waist-pack. One was a green laser pointer. In the shady conditions of the forest it was really good for pointing out where the birds are. He was very careful not to point it directly at the bird, but said where it was from where the pointer was, or circled the bird. I was really impressed with how useful it was. As we toured around we found that all of the top bird guides used this tool.

German longhaired pointers are muscular, elegant, athletic and highly intelligent. They are able to move with great speed and freedom. GLPs need large amounts of exercise daily, needing more than most pet owners can give. It is not well suited for urban life, as it thrives on having lots of room to run and swim. Source: Wikipedia.
