After seeing a wonderful Rockaway Theater Company production of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" at the Fort Tilden Playhouse in Breezy Point, Queens, the cast and audience were treated to this magnificent sunset! Fort Tilden is located right on the Atlantic Ocean, and is part of Gateway National Recreation Area, administered by the National Park Service.
This point-and-shoot photograph was taken at the Via Ferrata Xtreme at Honister Slate Mine in Cumbria, the last working slate mine in England and part of the Lake District National Park.
It was the incongruity of a takeaway coffee cup (Starbucks?) in a slate quarry in the middle of the Lake District National Park, rather than the half buried shed, that caught my eye.
A white Crocus closeup, shot in front of a house in our Brooklyn neighborhood. We thought it would look good on black, and hope you agree. Enjoy!
Took my Nikon point and shot on a walk yesterday. Not my typical camera, but I knew there would be a sunset at the end of a rainy day. These colors made taking the camera worth it.
The year this camera was made (see previous images please). Here, a shot with a telephoto setting straight into a concave mirror. It is one of these strange coincidences that just when the point-and-shoot technology had reached its maturity, the modern smartphone came along with a camera to match and, therefore, making point-and-shoot cameras redundant. Redundant, but still useful. So, let me transfer this into a general statement: for the average needs of today's photography, point-and-shoot cameras are not necessary, but they are still sufficient. There are many other options indeed.
One from the handheld point and shoot at full stretch on the morning of the alignment of the sunrise. The pier is almost 900 metres long and the gates are firmly closed until after the rise. This was a clamber grab for a reference shot with point and shoot, while waiting for the sun to reach target point where my DSLR was set up for shooting through the gates.
