The bears have a great enclosure in Poing - a large area with a huge pond / small lake. The young animals were always horsing around / wrestling while we were there - it was really fun to watch.

65 years ago a train with POWs as well as jewish prisoners from KZ Mühldorf (most of them survived Ausschwitz) to KZ Dachau stopped at exactly this dead rails. The responsible SS men set the prisoners free because they thought the war was over. Some other SS men came, shot their comrades and many of the prisoners.
Four days after the masacre of Poing WW2 was over in Europe.
Poing was a backwater then, some of its inhabitants hided the prisoners others hunted them just like some deer.
Today it is a village providing some thousand jobs in multiple high tech companies, which settled there. My lab is 100 meters from this scene. I did not know that for a long time, people do not talk about that.
This would have fit the black white red topic at the thematorium in two different ways.
Maybe its better not to do that for a contest.

KIRCHENKONTRAST – RELOADED
Ich habe die Aufforderung aus den Kommentaren von Stefan ernst genommen und mich unserer neuen katholischen Kirche nun auch von Innen genähert.
So wirklich näher ist sie mir immer noch nicht gekommen. Es wird noch viele Besuche benötigen um die Details und Aspekte zu erkennen und zu würdigen die Stefan hier in seiner Fachkenntnis erkennt.
Wir werden sehen was am Ende an Lichtbildern rauskommt, wenn Stefan selbst sich das Motiv vornimmt. Ich bin gespannt darauf!
Mit der Ansicht von der Straße aus kann ich mich immer noch nicht anfreunden. Das wird und wird nicht besser…
