This is the Paeonia lactiflora, also Chinese Peony, the bloom has a flower-like circle of stamens and unique carpels & stigmas, its very own little surprise tucked inside its petals.

I love the translucent petals, yet when they are in bud, it looks like they are waxy and 'hard', not at all silky, which they are.

The Peony is indigenous to China, but was imported to Japan so early it is difficult to be certain when the transplantation occurred.

It is a perennial plant with single flowers of white, red or pink which are born in late spring.

The peony was originally introduced as medicine.

In fact, its ancient Japanese name 'Ebisugusuri' literally means ‘medicine from China’.

However, due to its beautiful and now mostly double blooms, in time, many decorative varieties were developed.

In Japanese society, it was seen both as a medicine and a source of beauty.

Wishing you well and stay safe.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)

In the beauty, among the trees

Face caressed by the summer breeze

Hear the birds sing in the skies

See the clouds, float past your eyes

Walk between the spreading trees

Feel the lovely summer breeze

That falls upon your waiting face

As past you, beauty it does race

As the sun was shining brightly one day, while walking in a small village 30 miles out of Zagreb,I had to capture the moment of this magnificent and poetic view before me.

The flower is the poetry of reproduction. It is an example of the eternal seductiveness of life.

Have a beautiful Friday and a wonderful weekend.

Up to the Neck

I sat long enough in fire.

Now I am up to my neck

in the union of water.

You say, Up to the neck

is not enough.

Make your head your foot

and descend into love.

There is no up-to-the neck union.

I say, But for the sake of your garden

I sat up to my neck in blood.

You say, Yes, you escaped

the alluring world, but not yourself.

You are the magician

caught in his own trickery

Cut the breath of self and be silent.

Language cannot come from your throat

as you choke and go under.

... my life is just a word in a poetry

"there’s something sad’ning,

In these dreamy moods of yours,

Since the present proves so fleeting,

All the past for you endures.

Weeping at forgotten sorrows,

Smiling at forgotten jokes;

Life epitomized in minutes...."

"The poetry of earth is never dead."

I think this is a violet, and definitely a wildflower I discovered on a walk.. Some contend the color known as violet doesn't really exist. Call it what you want, I like the color.

There is poetry that strings through mankind and nature. It is only sensed by those that choose to take the time to seek it out. Nature’s verse is a multivariate complexity best consumed through respectful devotion and mindful observation. Photography is simply my means for bringing that poetry home to share.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

How lovely are thy branches!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree

How lovely are thy branches!

Your boughs so green in summertime,

Stay bravely green in wintertime.

O tannenbaum, O Christmas Tree

How lovely are thy branches!

Let us all remember in our gift giving and merriment

With our family and friends and loved ones

The real and true meaning of Christmas.

The birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

O tannenbaum, o tannenbaum

How lovely are they branches!

O tannenbaum, o tannenbaum

How lovely are, how lovely are thy branches.

The pillars all please faithfully

Our trust in God unchangedly,

O tannenbaum, o tannenbaum,

How lovely are thy branches.

On Comet, on Cupid, on Donder and Blitzen!

La stessa mattina della foto "A new day has come" solo che questa volta ho ritagliato un pò l'immagine per creare un primo piano.

(Anche qui potete vedere il pezzo di pane) :-)

The same morning as the photo "A new day has come" only this time I cut a bit the picture to create a close-up.

(Also here you can see the piece of bread) :-)

The poet. 1989, probably.

Commercial Drive in Vancouver. Was looking for something on my Instagram and found this. I put a colour shot of her on Flickr originally in 2018, but it's a different type of photo. I really like this black and white shot, though. Kind of like some old school street photography, but today. We traded. I got a poem for a photo. She is Courtney.

Bill, I’ll put your name on the bill

As you sip our poetry swill

We balance our books on the sill

For a photo, we’ll stay still.

Sit and listen if you will,

Friend, Bill, are you in a rush

So sacred to stop and spill

Our hearts in word or shutter push
