I bought an echinopsis with a seed pod. I will try to grow them and see if anything will sprout. That will be fun trying to grow this from seeds!

What is this called? These stalks were about 5 feet high and being sold at the Farmer's Market in Portsmouth, NH. They are not for eating. Too bad - I am an okra lover who can't seem to get enough of it in New England.
Awwwww! Look at all those new fabrics! I think I only used four pieces from my stash. I am planning on doing another "Once Upon a Time" quilt, this time for my daughter, in the near future so I need all the novelty prints I can get.

LUC and erect architecture were asked to deliver a brand new “play, leisure and learning experience of international renown” in the northern Olympic Park in Stratford. The scheme had a complex web of stakeholders, clients, multi-tiered statutory consultees and its own Games planning authority.
We designed an expansive playscape delivering innovative and challenging play experiences for all ages. Our inspiration was ecological processes, linking into the surrounding riverine landscape. The undulating topography envelops the popular new café and multi-functional community hub.
The BREEAM Excellent-rated Tumbling Bay progresses through a series of character areas: a hazel copse and birch pioneer woodland encouraging den-making and play-trails; a sand and water area inspired by the history of the River Lee, where children can become water engineers; and climax woodland – the challenging Scots Pine area with climbing nets, organic treetop pods and connecting bridges.
Visitor numbers quickly exceeded those initially anticipated, and the scheme is bringing people into the park in advance of the creation of the surrounding neighbourhoods, providing future local residents, national and international visitors, with a well-loved, exciting place to play.
When it opened, this project won several awards, a Civic Trust Award; the Civic Trust Selwyn Goldsmith Award for Universal design; best ‘Public Space’ at the New London Awards; and the ‘Small scale public development’ category at the Landscape Institute Awards.

I spent the afternoon at Agua Caliente Park. Not many flowers in bloom. We are at the end of summer and cooler weather is around the corner.

EL TSJP RECIBIÓ AL MINISTRO GENARO DAVID GÓNGORA PIMENTEL

El Tribunal Superior de Justicia del Estado de Puebla (TSJP), recibió la visita del Ministro, Genaro David Góngora Pimentel, quien impartió la conferencia Magistral “Reforma Constitucional en Materia de Amparo”, en el Aula Magna del Palacio de Justicia, donde afirmó que el Juicio de Amparo se seguirá siempre a la instancia de la parte agraviada.
Al evento acudieron Magistrados, Jueces, litigantes y estudiantes de Derecho, encabezados por el Presidente Magistrado del TSJP, Roberto Flores Toledano, quien agradeció la visita del Ministro Góngora Pimentel, y resaltar la importancia de sus estudios materia de Amparo y su aportación en la impartición de justicia.
Genaro David Góngora Pimentel, es autor del libro “Introducción al estudio del Juicio de Amparo”, en el que aborda los temas que han detenido los avances en esta materia.
Expuso que uno de los problemas que se presenta en la actualidad es el definir el Interés Legítimo, como elemento de la acción de amparo.
De acuerdo con el Artículo 4° de la Constitución Política abundó el Ministro en retiro Genaro Góngora, todos los individuos tienen derecho a vivir en un medio ambiente sano, como punto primordial.
Indicó que el Artículo 107 Constitucional se establece el interés jurídico e interés legítimo, que dice que el Juicio de Amparo se seguirá siempre a la instancia de la parte agraviada, teniendo tal carácter quien aduce ser titular de un derecho, o de un interés legítimo individual o colectivo, son también intereses jurídicamente protegidos.
No obstante, consideró que la jurisprudencia es imprecisa, ya que las normas en cuestión tutelan intereses de una colectividad que carece de personalidad jurídica sin otorgar derechos subjetivos a sus integrantes, en el entendido en que la afectación individual sólo podrá darse en la medida en que se forme parte de una colectividad interesada, pues de lo contrario se estaría en presencia de un interés jurídico o simple, lo cual no hace más que complicar el problema.
Señaló que la Reforma Constitucional tiene algunas aspectos que han sido aplacibles, incluso en los medios de comunicación, como es la propuesta de ajustar el principio de relatividad de las sentencias de amparo, señalando que las sentencias además de ocuparse de individuos particulares, también lo hace respecto de personas morales, privadas o sociales.
Asimismo, dijo que la sentencia que se pronuncie en los Juicios de Amparo sólo se ocupará de los quejosos que lo hubieren solicitado, limitándose a ampararlos y protegerlos en el caso especial sobre lo que versa la demanda, lo cual ha sido muy aplaudido.
Pero el problema es que la Ley no será aplicable a normas generales en materia tributaría que es donde se necesitaba, subrayó Góngora Pimentel, luego de agregar que esto permitirá que el Estado siga dictando sentencias que puedan ser inconstitucionales, sin que los amparos sirvan a todos los demás que estén en esos supuestos.
Finalmente, lamentó que el Artículo 100 Constitucional no se hubiera tocado, aun cuando era necesario, ya que al establecer que las decisiones del Consejo sean definitivas e inatacables, salvo los que afecten el derecho de personas ajenas al Poder Judicial de la Federación, las que sean de materia laboral y las que se refieran a la designación, adscripción, cambio de adscripción, ratificación y remoción de magistrados y jueces , las cuales solo podrán ser revisadas por la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (SCJN).

Most of the colossal agave blossoms were out of reach of my curious fingers unless they had already died. This plant, many seed pods / blossoms still intact was lying near the trail and permitted me a closer look.

I was going to say that this building is bit like marmite - you either love it or hate it - but to be honest, I simply can't decide. I think I'm somewhere in the middle.
The pods remind me of these tangy raspberry flavored candies coated in sugar I use to love when I was a kid...
The host plant for Monarch butterfly caterpillars is milkweed, and I have observed leaves being devoured from tip to stem. This is the first time I have witnessed a milkweed seedpod being devoured in the same manner. I noticed that the caterpillar avoided eating the seeds, but rather purposefully dropped them one at a time..
