HAPPY CATURDAY!

Thank you all for visits, faves and comments - greatly appreciated!

My first visit to see these awesome sculptures by Andy Scott at night. Such a cool place to spend a couple of hours mooching. Surprisingly busy at 9.30pm too.....

In an monumental feat of engineering, The Kelpies, two 30 metre high stainless steel sculptures, rose from the ground in 2013, towering over The Helix and the Forth & Clyde canal.

Construction of The Kelpies began on 17th June 2013. The two enormous structures were manufactured and installed by SH Structures Limited.

The build was officially completed on 27th November 2013, and was celebrated with a 'topping-out' ceremony featuring Duke and Baron, the Clydesdale life models for The Kelpies.

When I was in Oxford back in the late sixties, I lived in Digs and from time to time when my landlady was not around she would leave a "cold dinner plate" in the larder for me. Always good! Confession -- this is not real ice but rather "prop ice" made of acrylic for use in photos and movie sets. For the Smile on Saturday challenge: "Presented on a Plate."

Saturday Self Challenge; White on White

Not the easiest challenge, and after various attempts, finally on settled on these two white dinner plates. For better or worse, they were in dappled light, hence the shadow in the background.

Þingvellir National Park, where one can practically watch Earth' powers at work. It marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, which means it is here where the two main tectonic plates, The European and the Atlantic one are drifting away of each other, tearing Iceland apart. The opening rift can be seen here at the National Park

When it takes you 50 million years to post ~yet again~. Thank you to those who stay followed to my page. The last couple of months have been weird. Hopefully I can come back and still give you guys the quality content I've been striving to achieve.

Today I'm featuring a picture taken by a wonderful individual, Ego, who I've met a little while ago. They didn't want me to credit them. Sorry friend! Had to credit ♥♥♥

Got a boy back home in Michigan

And it tastes like Jack when I'm kissing him

So I told him that I never really liked his friends

Now he's gone and he's calling me a bitch again

There's a guy that lives in a garden state

And he told me that we make it 'til we graduate

So I told him the music would be worth the wait

But he wants me in the kitchen with a dinner plate

I believe, I believe, I believe, I believe

That we're meant to be

But jealousy, jealousy, jealousy, jealousy

Get the best of me

Look, I don't mean to frustrate, but I

Always make the same mistakes, yeah I

Always make the same mistakes 'cause

I'm bad at love

But you can't blame me for tryin'

You know I'd be lyin' sayin'

You were the one

That could finally fix me

Lookin' at my history

I'm bad at love

I know that you're afraid

I'm gonna walk away

Each time the feeling fades

Each time the feeling fades

I know that you're afraid

I'm gonna walk away

Each time the feeling fades

These plates of ice are frozen in place under the surface. The ice shifts and breaks daily then refreezes. Best viewed large.

I found this trying to overcome my quarter plate issue with the 9x9 Go board. The slight bowing you see is nonexistent with ample side support (1x2, 2x2 bricks, etc). I am not sure the hinge tops are quite quarter plates, but I am sure the raised lettering on these parts isn't helping.

I tried using some plates, tiles, and flags to determine the actual fraction of a plate, but when I broke out the calipers I found that the plates, tiles, and flags I was using were not quite the dimensions I expected, so I just took a sample of 32 hinge tops and with statistics concluded the actual fraction is about 5/16 of a plate.
