I had a very difficult time choosing over the photos I took last week. I am trying to get ahead of these things a little bit. then, when you edit, things can change a bit.
Happy Smile on Saturday
Not so white this egg white! Had trouble with the white balance all the way. The white paper I put everything on maybe wasn't exactly white, the shadows where dirty yellow and the hard boiled egg even more yellow.

Macro Mondays: "Bubbles"
A plastic spoon that I used to scoop out some soap bubbles; lit with a desklamp. Converted to black and white.
The image is about 5 cm (2 inches) on the long edge.

I was running out of time and light when I realised I hadn't got my POTD. So the trusty green plastic spoons came out again today for a low key shot. I haven't used these for a while so figured it was time they put in an appearance.
As usual late entry. Went through the kids treasure boxes and the beads and plastic spoon is exactly something I wanted. The letter beads came as a bonus for the shot.
HMM everyone and have a great week ahead!
Ein kleiner Plastiklöffel und eine Platikmurmel zwischen zwei Polarisationsfiltern fotografiert. Dadurch werden Spannungen im Material durch bunte Farben sichtbar.
A small plastic spoon and a plastic marble photographed between two polarizing filters. This makes tensions in the material visible through bright colors.
I finally managed to make a transparrent arm for him.
it is based on the shoulder part of a arm and all the transgreen is cut up and glued parts from a plastic spoon.

These are the plastic spoons I brought back from Gran Canaria, a couple of years ago, as photo props. They have been useful on a few occasions so I thought I would give them another outing. Maybe now is the time to say goodbye, I hang on to far too much stuff...just in cases.
After seeing this on the screen I wished I'd used a smaller aperture but didn't have time to go back to the drawing board. Oh well, it's all a learning curve.

Macro Monday - Plastic
This an ICM shot of some plastic spoons. As an ICM I'm not sure it will be allowed in MM. It's only a small portion of the spoons but obviously I can't prove that so it may be removed from the group but it's still my shot of the day for the April challenge.

Macro Monday - Green
My much used green plastic spoons but with a difference, I placed some green tulle over them for some added texture / interest. HMM
The theme for the week is plastic. Finding a subject was the easist part but I really couldn't figure out how to best to shoot it. I listened to an interesting Podcast over the weekend regarding plastic. It was Science vs. The title is "Is There Really A Plastic Spoon In Our Brains?" With all of the recent hype/panic about plastic inside our body it was a good listen. How are you trying to avoid plastics in your life?
This is a small part of a pair of plastic glasses, the colour is ranging from blue to purple.
The background is from a pink plastic spoon and a piece of yellow paper, that happened by accident and I liked the effect!
Thanks a lot for your views, faves and or comments !! Happy MM.

With nearly no flowers after the freeze, several bees were trying to figure out if these plastic spoons were flowers.

Not a self-portrait! If transformed into café cutlery, I would be the introverted fork at the window table, sipping tea and reading my book. :)

DID YOU KNOW: The male Satin Bowerbird is perhaps the best known and well documented of all the bowerbirds in Australia. This fame partially stems from its practice of building and decorating a bower to attract females. This consists of two parallel walls of sticks, is built on the ground, and is used as a courtship arena during the breeding season. The male decorates it with bright blue coloured objects that it collects; blue clothes pegs, drinking straws and bottle tops are among the favourite stolen items, while bright blue parrot feathers, flowers and brown snail shells, make up the majority of decorations away from human habitation. A mixture of chewed vegetable matter and saliva is used to paint the walls of the bower. The bower owner meticulously maintains it throughout the year. Both mature and immature males build bowers and display to prospective females.
On the arrival of a female, the male Satin Bowerbird leaps into a ritualised display of exaggerated movements, such as strutting and bowing, with wings outstretched and quivering, and accompanied by a variety of mechanical-sounding calls, such as buzzing and rattling interspersed with mimicry. One of the bower decorations is usually carried in the male's bill. If impressed, the female moves into the bower avenue for mating and then leaves to perform the nesting duties on her own, while the male readies himself for courting more prospective females. (From: australian.museum/learn/animals/birds/satin-bowerbird/)
Each bowerbird has its own particular favorite blue decorations: This particular male loved bottle caps but another one who had a bower near by favored blue plastic spoons. The males attend to their bowers all day long waiting for a female to appear and did not seem to mind my sitting quietly taking pictures. Although I saw multiple females in the bushes near the bowers, I did not get to witness a female actually entering the bower structure.
This a a plastic spoon of coffee granules. What you see is about one inch wide. I've used my Z6ii + 105mm macro lens + 1.4x teleconverter + 2 extension tubes to get in very close.
I've used a red LED for the highlights.
