We took down the shabby cabinet in the corner of the kitchen and discovered some of the plaster behind it was hollow.
Replacing this seemed a good idea to start with, though it turned into rather an epic task as the issue was more extensive than it at first appeared. In hindsight, drilling holes and injecting PVA glue might have been better.
