Discarded, planters in a local cemetery. I used sepia to try and give it an old "left behind" feeling. Let me know what you think.

WIT: I let this planter go to rust on purpose for effect, as I thought it looked pretty cool. In post, just increased the contrast to emphasize the texture.

Still life of an house window with a planter trellis made of wood and metal for both security and decorum.

This small boat is next to the parking lot at the Port Aransas Nature preserve at Charlie's Pasture, in Port Aransas, Texas. I found it amusing to see a boat based planter growing a prickly pear cactus. This parking lot is very near the channel from the Intracoastal Waterway to the Port of Corpus Christi at the other end of Corpus Christi Bay.

Oversize planters tend to be a good posing spot for us "statuesque" ladies.

While waiting over 30 minutes for an actual IRS person to speak to me, I made this collage of vintage ceramic planters with a fish theme. What plant would you put in them? May 2022.

Nice idea for this urban vertical garden! Must be difficult for watering but the overall result is very nice!

Helping to keep the downtown main street welcoming for shoppers, a lot of the store owners do far more than putting in attractive window displays.

American flags stuck into a planter along the route of Washington, DC's Independence Day parade

Supplies:

1 aluminum gutter

2 gutter caps

8 sheet metal screws

1 tube of silicon caulk

Tools:

drill (w/ drill bit)

caulking gun

1.25 steel snips

----

The biggest pain for this lil project is cutting the aluminum gutter in the parking lot to fit it in your car. You might want to bring/buy some leather gloves so you don't cut yourself. Also, remember to bring your measurements and a measuring tape. If you don't have a pair of snips, you can buy them in the store. I bought my supplies from home depot, but i'm sure lowe's or ace hardware sell gutters as well. Home depot keeps the gutter caps in boxes right beneath the gutters. Be sure to get both the left sided and right sided caps.

If you make one of your own, please post a pic. I'd love to see it.

Update:

Since I planted succulents, I figured I would just spray them a lil from time to time and not have to worry about drainage. But I got lazy and started watering them, and wasn't keeping track of how often, resulting in saturated roots and very unhappy plants.

If you make this planter, I'd recommend following @jessbruder's improvement by layering some gravel at the bottom, before adding dirt and drilling a hole at the bottom of one of the sides to attach a hose for drainage.

Frost hardy plants have replaced tender ones in all the planters. This one features red ornamental kale and Dianthus. Arboretum, Dallas, Texas, . USA. 4 December 2023

After eating a hearty lunch recently, I decided to walk around some shops in Duncan's Mills, California. To amuse myself while walking, I took pictures of some beautiful arrangement of flowers in outside planters of the different shops they have there.

This is a view looking south-east along Bull Street towards Corporation Street in Birmingham city centre on Saturday 10th October 1981. The bus is a Daimler Fleetline CRG6LX with bodywork by Park Royal, dating from 1973. No. 4326 in the fleet of West Midlands PTE and at the time was allocated to Hockley depot.

If I remember rightly, the intersection of these two roads was raised to allow pedestrian subways to pass underneath, and if so they have since been filled in and the "hump" flattened. In fact today the tracks of the Midland Metro turn from the south end of Corporation Street, on the right behind the bus, and into Bull Street right here where these planters used to be.

I hope someone out there knows what pottery made these. I have been collecting them about 10 years...finally declared myself 'done' when no more would fit on the shelves. Although, I'd trash the white swan if I found a different dog, cat or bear in another pastel color....I believe I have enough pink squirrels.
