This is a my planner. I write down my schedule to this. I use my smartphone as a planner, but I also carry a thin planner notebook with me.
In few years, I may find that I don't need it....

The Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Michigan.
The Brutalist style office block, Argyle House, regularly referred to as one of the ugliest buildings in the city, and not without reason (although it looks better in B&W photos than it does in real life!)
I am no fan of Brutalist architecture, but even worse, the lax planning regulations of the 1960s meant this large, concrete block was allowed to be built on the edge of the Old Town, just a stone's throw from Edinburgh Castle. Yes, I know some love the style, but I find it cold, ugly and very impersonal (it has also dated very badly, greying concrete as it weathers)
Today the protection of heritage sites would make that difficult, sadly the planners of the 60s seemed happy to impose this large, ugly, (then) modern structure in a historic area, let alone visible from the battlements of a major castle and symbol of national heritage. I know it was a different era, but ye gods, it is hard to believe any architects or planners thought this was a good idea to build something like this right below Castle Rock!
Dedicated to Esteves who wrote a nice testimonial for me. She likes Smurf cartoons. Claudia, thanks for your loyal support and kind comments.
Dunno what to post for today & greatly irritated by some incident last nite..

I sat at the kitchen table, staring blankly at my planner where...

(sigh)
I have created planner dorks out of some of my students. We had a park day and I was curious who brought their planner with them :)
20T takes to the passing siding to run around a dead 120 train parked on the mainline at Dawson, IL.
All day long 120's carcass served to impede traffic flow as trains sat for an hour and half at either Iles and Harristown waiting for opposing traffic to pass. Then, once they were let loose, they had to negotiate the 25 mph gauntlet at Dawson as they ran into and back out of the passing siding. Movement Planner my butt. More like Constipation Planner.
24 hours later, as I posted this photo, 120 is still sitting dead at Dawson blocking the main road crossing. And the Class I's wonder why people are getting angry.

______________
After getting this shot to what it looks like now, I wanted to add some more depth below t he lines. Now what does more depth mean when it comes to an idea from me.
Simply put it, I wanted to make it look like if there was another dimension below. But in the end my idea didn't couldn't come alive.
Right why was such an idea a challenge for me. First and foremost, my limited experience and memory makes it a challenge. Also when a edited shot starts to become more complex. Then that pretty much, separates the amateurs from the professionals.
Anyway since trying to use such a idea took up a few hours of frustration, it will most likely result in, no more edited shots leading into tonight.
The Red Rd flats were a post war social experiment to move people from the slums to the sky when completed in 1966 they were the tallest in Europe, unfortunately it took over 45 years and many broken generations to realise the plan was flawed. Now in the process of demolition
I am putting my photos taken on my trip to Europe and the UK with a girl friend in October to November 2012. My camera I had then wasn't good with low light so some of these shots are not great but I have put them as my memories of the trip.
On a walk around Amsterdam on a cold November day.
Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades, legacies of the city’s 17th-century Golden Age. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk. Cycling is key to the city’s character, and there are numerous bike paths.
The canals came to life during the beginning of the 17th-century, after the population in Amsterdam grew beyond its medieval walls and city planners put together an ambitious idea for expansion. Far from being picturesque or decorative, the canals in Amsterdam were necessary to drain & reclaim the wet land.
Actually, there is one on my desk. I have wanted to eat it since this morning. Yesterday's banana did not survive to get painted. This one fared a little better, it is now afternoon. But now...it's banana time! :D
