Chris Reed’s Oxford Brownie Troop #219 donated 13 fleece blankets to the Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital on November 15. Chris’ Troop has been making and donating blankets to us since 2006. The blankets are part of one of our Planetree Programs for which we give warm and fuzzy blankets to women undergoing breast surgery. I stopped in La Sénia on the way back from dropping off Curt in the mountains. This is the main square next to the City Hall- . the square is a lovely shaded amphitheatre like place to sit, relax and cool off. The summer has been extremely hot and dry and the plane trees are dropping the leaves early.

Caledonia waterfalls, is one of the highest water falls in Cyprus. It is located on Platres village in Troodos and the water fells from a height of 12 meters. It can be reached via a walking path.
Caledonia waterfall is surrounded by forest in a very beautiful area with breathtaking views. The trail is 3km long and can last up to 2 hours. It can also be divided into two parts, the first one which is the higher one that leads to the waterfalls and the second one which leads from the waterfall to Platres.
This little square with it's fountain and plane tree expresses the design plan of most Provencal villages.

Today we met up with both Joe's Godfathers... Carl and Andy and their families. We had a lovely walk at Virginia Water and then lunch at Piccolino's. I have honestly never seen the boys eat so much food. They polished off a basket of bread before their enormous pizza even arrived. They ate all but 2 slices of the pizza and then a bowl of ice-cream for pudding... Joe then scavenged all the biscotti which came with the ice-cream and ate those too!
I'm very proud of them for sitting so nicely, eating up all their lunch and for walking the best part of a mile as well. Love you boys! xxxx
Oh and this is one of the dangly seed pod thingys on a plane tree. I didn't get much of a chance to take photos as I was holding a boy on reins and pushing a trike at the same time! Loved how blue the sky was though.
The Diarizos Valley lies west to south west of the Troodos mountain range and takes its name from the river Diarizos which runs through it. This valley has a wide variety of fauna and flora, with a number of protected species.
The Troodos National Forest Park covers an area of 9,147 hectares around Mount Olympus. It is an area of great natural beauty, suitable for activities such as hiking, biking and camping .
Cyprus has the warmest climate and warmest winters in the Mediterranean part of the European Union.
This is the seed ball of a London plane tree, Platanus x acerifolia. It's about 2 centimetres in diameter. Macro lenses rock. :-)
This was taken with a Canon MP-E65 1-5x macro lens.
This wonderful Turkish plane tree is over 800 years old. Little greenery around, as spring is very late there this year (the temp was 11C!! It was a bit of a climate shock after leaving the UK in 27C!)
