Plan A was to have a Pepsi bottle with a bent neck.
I now know that it is impossible to bend a soda bottle by putting it in my coal fired boiler.
We've been away on vacation for the past couple of weeks and the only access I've had to Flickr has been through my smart phone. The trip was planned by procrastination, which means the initial plan called for a flight to eastern Canada. However, when that didn't happen, we decided to drive. The thought or reserving motels or campsites through the busy holiday season also came up in our discussions but that didn't materialize either. Driving by the seat of our pants, so to speak, we relied on luck, which actually worked out very well - in one case we managed to get the very last available campsite in Fundy National Park.
This image includes the old Lighthouse on Cape Jourimain, which was built in 1870. It's one of the most photographed lighthouses in Canada and has quite a picturesque setting near the Confederation Bridge, which links Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. It was declared surplus in 2010 and has not been maintained for some time. It's currently in the process of being moved back a few feet to prevent it from toppling into the sea as shoreline erosion brings the sea closer and closer.
The truth is I didn't actually have a plan B until I realised I'd missed my chance of plan A. The result of an early start with the intention of heading for the pier on the way to Blyth this morning. On arriving at the beach it struck me that every time I've taken a shot near the outfalls it's been high tide and nearly every shot I've seen from other togs at this spot have been at high tide so with all this exposed beach to play with I decided to take a few pre sunrise shots here. Well i stayed a bit longer than I intended but with clouds like this can you blame me.

My original plan was to chill in Dalton for an hour or two & see whatever comes through as a side trip on the way home from Chattanooga that morning. I pulled into the parking lot by the depot when my friend Brad shared an update that 27W was east of Tallapoosa, GA with EMDX Yellow Slug 7208 in the lead. With that news, I immediately left & started booking it down I-75 towards Atlanta to try & beat it. Thankfully for me, the dispatcher put them in the hole at Temple to let two westbounds through, buying me enough time to get to Austell as he was again going into the hole at Lithia Springs for about 20 minutes to allow the higher priority 226 to slip by them. Upon determining not to try either Austell or Mableton, I went to Bridge since I knew I could get them from either side of the crossing there depending on where the sun was. It just so happened that G98, which is normally G78, was going into the lead for Argos USA right as I got there. I set up to get a few shots of them while I waited for 27W when next thing I know, 27W calls Bridge, allowing me to catch a rather eco-friendly meet as the ECO-set powering G98 was passed by the tier 4 demonstrator unit. The moral of this story... it pays to be at the right place at the right time. 7-10-20
I was too tired to go up to Checkerboard Mesa after a long day in the Narrows. So I abandoned my plans and decided to line-up with a lot of our fellow photogs on this very popular spot. The wind was whipping and there was a storm coming. This shot was taken just before we all scampered away due to the deluge.
The bridge, planned by the French colonial power in 1899-1902 and built mainly by the Vietnamese among numerous victims, is almost 1.7 km long and has only been allowed for mopeds and pedestrians for many years. The traffic dictates, especially during rush hour, the wearing of a mask or a durable device... crossing the bridge on foot is an adventure in every way.

We created and are stewards of the Walmart Sustainability Index, and we engage in projects with retailers and brands to make consumer products and their supply chains more sustainable. “It’s a terrible thing, I think, in life to wait until you’re ready. I have this feeling now that actually no one is ever ready to do anything. There is almost no such thing as ready. There is only now. And you may as well do it now. Generally speaking, now is as good a time as any.”

I randomly got the urge to take a self portrait the other night and this is what came of it. Having dreams and goals of leaving the place you were born can sometimes be difficult, it's something I've wanted for a long time and I think now is the moment, more than ever. I don't have a concrete plan for "escape" but I do know that nothing will stop me from living out my dreams.
There is so much I could say here, so much I want to say…about my life and history, friends and family, bad experiences and resentments, longings and far away love, but instead I'll just let the image do the talking. Have a good day everyone:D
**I would like to put a small disclaimer saying that there was some pretty significant liquifying involved in this photo slim me down a bit and make me look more "sickly" and "weak". It is for artistic purposes only, and I felt like I should make it known incase it was obvious. Other wise I don't really care :P
St. Nicholas of Potsdam Church (German for St. Nikolaikirche) is a Lutheran church erected on the Old Market Square (Alter Markt) in Potsdam. The central floor building in the classicist style dedicated to Saint Nicholas was built according to the plans of Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the years 1830 to 1837. The 77 meter high church drum that dominates the roofs of the city was built later , from 1843 to 1850. Its construction was taken over by Ludwig Persius and, from 1845, by Friedrich August Stüler. It is one of the few remaining works of Schinkel.
Towards the end of World War II, the church was attacked during the airstrike in Potsdam and was subsequently severely damaged by Soviet artillery fire. After many years of reconstruction, the church was re-consecrated in 1981 by St. Nicholas Evangelical Parish, Potsdam, and today it is open to visitors. In addition to the normal church services, concert events also take place in the church.
