Colaptes rubiginosus
(Golden-olive woodpecker / Carpintero verdidorado)
The golden-olive woodpecker (Colaptes rubiginosus) is a resident breeding bird from Mexico south and east to Guyana, northwest Argentina, Trinidad and Tobago. It was formerly placed in the genus Piculus. The scientific name rubiginosus means "full of rust", describing the color of the bird's wings and back.
The habitat of this woodpecker is forests, more open woodland, and cultivation. It is most common in the mountains. Due to its habitat—mainly montane forest, separated by large rivers—it has evolved into about 20 subspecies. Andean birds show a pale eyering.
Golden-olive woodpeckers mainly eat insects, including ants and beetle larvae, with some fruit and berries.
For Macro Monday's theme "tea". The total frame is less than 2 1/2 inches and black tea was used. I placed a measurement photo in the 1st comment box.

There is no record that Cervantes placed Don Quixote in the lands of Malanquilla. If that had been the case, he could not have put into his mouth that "because you see there, friend Sancho Panza, where thirty or a few more outrageous giants are discovered..." for the simple reason that in Malanquilla there is only one mill, the that appears in the photo. Its construction date is not known, but its existence in 1567 is documented and it was rescued from ruin by a group of local youth from 1980; that is, at least four centuries after its construction.

Two main elements from the same early morning photo shoot, intuitively placed together to begin the Surrealist/Dada-ist dialogue of apparent absurdity. The confounding of reason to allow something more direct to come through. Lines of emotive energy and text denoting the ever-presence of attempted conceptualization ... all on a quiet Summer morning's walk.

Out in a local valley looking at the snow covered hills with the cattle feeding on newly placed hay, the lightly covering of snow and magical clouds caused a long look at natures beauty. Finally turned off the rumbling engine and listened to the silence before walking around for the best shot that would depict what was seen. A lonely ranch with just one occupant in a valley with the nearest neighbor miles away, cattle silently eating with snow covered hills in the backdrop and a beautiful misty playful sky. The only occupant stated the beauty and silence made up for the isolation. Would tend to agree…………

Late in the game again with a photo that is a pure act of desperation. Really. I didn't want to skip "High Key", because it is pretty much out of my comfort zone so I wanted to meet this challenge. But I wasn't sure what to photograph. At the end (which means today) a tiny, shiny miniature crown that once graced a pencil bought at the museum shop of the Deutsches Historisches Museum (I've already used this crown in another photo which you can find in the first comment) and another watch (a Casio which you might have already guessed) came to the rescue. But does this image make any sense? I don't think so. Except maybe for the fact that a tiny crown is reflected in the glass of a digital watch that doesn't have a crown, only pushers. Oh dear ;)
OK, so let's skip my unsuccessful attempt at trying to make sense of an image that doesn't make any sense and get to the technicalities: The glass of this watch is double-coated (on the outside and on the inside). Seen at the right angle (light from above aka sunshine works best) it lets the dial shimmer in lovely pastel rainbow colours. But the glass also works as a mirror. So I simply placed the crown in front of it, illuminated the glass with a single LED light so the rainbow colour coating would work its irresistible iridescent magic on the crown's reflection, and took a single handheld shot. Which had to do, because I was running out of time. The bokeh in the lower right corner is the golden crown itself. Processed in DXO PL6, Color Efex, and Viveza.
HMM, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!

Placed in southeast of Sao Vicente island, one of the very first cities of Brazil, Porchat island is a pseudo island due to the fact that only in the high tide it is completely surrounded by water. This is well known due to its dancing clubs and a rich casino, which is no longer opened because of recent Brazilian restrictions on gambling businesses.
This image was taken from the top of Porchat Island toward to Sao Vicente Island, just before a morning storm, where the buildings are seeing in the background and smaller islands appear in the left and far right.

This old steam locomotive was placed there as memorial to the time when the Xuhui riverside promenade and park (徐汇滨江公园) used to be a busy warehousing and cargo area.
The locomotive was made in 1987 by the Datong Locomotive Works (大同机车工厂). It is a 2-8-2 "JS" (建设, Jianshe = Construction), in the revised "B" specification, build no. 8145.
Of the "JS" in total 1,916 units were made in two production runs (not only at Datong), from 1957-1965 and again 1981 until the final end of production in 1988/9.

The Cathedral in Seville stands alone rather than being placed in the centre of a mosque and is all the better for it. The cathedral is vast and impossible to photograph in its entirety this is a section of the North side of the building . In the background you can see the tall Giralda tower that dominates the Seville skyline
The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See is a Roman Catholic cathedral in Seville, It was registered in 1987 by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, along with the adjoining Alcázar palace complex It is one of the largest churches in the world as well as the largest Gothic church.
After its completion in the early 16th century, Seville Cathedral supplanted Hagia Sophia as the largest cathedral in the world, a title the Byzantine church had held for a thousand years. The Gothic section alone has a length of 126 m , a width of 76 m , and its maximum height in the centre of the transept is 42 m The total height of the Giralda tower from the ground to the weather vane is 104.5 m

Stark symmetry... I'm sure the sheep would appreciate a bit extra placed in their feeders when the grass is covered in snow.
The cardinals were already visiting when I placed peanuts at the palm stump. Normally they wait for me to go on about my business before heading over to partake in a peanut treat. This guy surprised and delighted me. I watched as he started working his way toward the stump. I was only about ten feet away when he decided to come on down and get a peanut. In this image I think he looks like he is admiring the bounty before choosing just the right nut. He stayed long enough to eat two peanuts before carrying a third one to a branch in oak tree one. I felt very privileged to be allowed to point the camera in his direction and take a couple of shots while standing so close.
I hope everyone has a delightful weekend, happy snapping.

False Creek
Vancouver
British Columbia,
Canada
False Creek is a short inlet in the heart of Vancouver. It separates downtown from the rest of the city. It was named by George Henry Richards during his Hydrographic survey of 1856-63. George Richards named False Creek during his survey of the coast in the mid-19th century. While traveling along the south side of the Burrard Inlet, he thought he was traversing a creek; upon discovering his error, he gave the waterway its modern name. Wikipedia
Burrard Bridge (Background) Vancouver, BC CA
Opened: July 1st, 1932
The Burrard Bridge (also referred to as the Burrard Street Bridge) is a five-lane, Art Deco style, steel truss bridge constructed in 1930-1932 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The high, five part bridge on four piers spans False Creek, connecting downtown Vancouver with Kitsilano via connections to Burrard Street on both ends. It is one of three bridges crossing False Creek.
The architect of the Burrard Bridge was George Lister Thornton Sharp, the engineer John R. Grant. The bridge's two close approach spans are Warren trusses placed below deck level, while its central span is a Pratt truss placed above deck level to allow greater clearance height for ships passing underneath. The central truss is hidden when crossing the bridge in either direction by vertical extensions of the bridge's masonry piers into imposing concrete towers, connected by overhead galleries, which are embellished with architectural and sculptural details that create a torch-like entrance of pylons. Busts of Captain George Vancouver and Sir Harry Burrard-Neale in ship prows jut from the bridge’s superstructure (a V under Vancouver’s bust, a B under Burrard’s).

This is the second photograph for Flickr from my visit to the wisteria pergola on the edge of Hampstead Heath, London. This bench has been placed in position by the friends of Dr Dan, in his memory. A good place to sit and remember him, and indeed in my case, to wonder who he was. I can only think well of him, because the place is so beautiful.
Part of the Avebury henge complex, dated 2850 BC to 2200 BC.
Some believe such ancient sites were connected and placed on lines of spiritual power, ley lines, maybe that's what's in the sky? Or not :) Certainly a sacred place with a unique atmosphere.

The Australian magpie (Gymnorhina tibicen) is a medium-sized black and white passerine bird native to Australia and southern New Guinea. Although once considered to be three separate species, it is now considered to be one, with nine recognised subspecies. A member of the Artamidae, the Australian magpie is placed in its own genus and is most closely related to the black butcherbird (Melloria quoyi). Currawongs have yellow eyes, whereas Magpies have red-brown eyes and Butcherbirds have very dark brown, almost black eyes. It is not, however, closely related to the European magpie, which is a corvid. The adult Australian magpie is a fairly robust bird ranging from 37 to 43 cm in length, with distinctive black and white plumage, gold brown eyes and a solid wedge-shaped bluish-white and black bill. The male and female are similar in appearance, and can be distinguished by differences in back markings. The male has pure white feathers on the back of the head and the female has white blending to grey feathers on the back of the head. With its long legs, the Australian magpie walks rather than waddles or hops and spends much time on the ground. Described as one of Australia's most accomplished songbirds, the Australian magpie has an array of complex vocalisations. It is omnivorous, with the bulk of its varied diet made up of invertebrates. It is generally sedentary and territorial throughout its range. Common and widespread, it has adapted well to human habitation and is a familiar bird of parks, gardens and farmland in Australia and New Guinea. This species is commonly fed by households around the country, but in spring (and occasionally in autumn) a small minority of breeding magpies (almost always males) become aggressive and swoop and attack those who approach their nests. 59940
I tried quiet a few different subjects but eventually came back to my tried and tested watch parts. I was lucky how this set froze, quiet randomly the second hand lined up with the watch face, and the cogs were close to the surface of the ice. Originally I’d used ice cube trays to freeze objects but I ended up freezing them in a jar then cracking the ice into chunks with a knife.
To take the shot I placed the ice onto a stacked shot glass on top of a Pyrex lid on top of an LED light (with various other lights to pick out the detail).
Loving the variety in the group pool so far, makes me smile to think what’s been on ice in peoples freezers worldwide this week!

The purpose of the project not only will help keep birds but they will also publicize the territory using an attractive and artistic way.
Community people reconverted scarecrows into "estimaocells" and in its construction they included nest boxes and bird feeders.
The main aim of this community project is improving and restoring the biodiversity in the territory.

Today it is fashionable to put things you no longer need in the street. Clothes, books, toys that are gladly taken away by other people. Unfortunately, mattresses, fridges, car tyres and much more are also placed illegally on the street.
As soon as the rubbish collection BSR has knowledge of an illegal rubbish dump in the street space, they come and dispose of it.
You can dispose of all your household rubbish free of charge at the municipal waste collection service BSR, you just have to take it there yourself or BSR will pick it up for a fee.
I wish you a good start into the new week and thank you for your visit.
