The Grand-Place of Tournai (Belgium)

does not always have this place open with its welcoming terraces. Between the first and 4th centuries, part of the square served as a cemetery and, during excavations undertaken during the development work at the end of the 20th century, the remains of a Carolingian chapel were found.

For centuries, it will be outside the first ramparts of the city whose historic heart was closer to the Scheldt. After the abandonment of the cemetery due to the expansion of the city, it is transformed into a market place. In 1187, when the King of France Philip Augustus gave the city a charter guaranteeing it communal freedoms, the Tournaisians chose the market to erect a Belfry. The Grand-Place became the centre of communal life that we still know today.

From its particularity of being triangular in shape, it is also so by the Flemish architecture of the houses that form a harmonious whole and makes it the most Flemish of the Walloon cities.

I want to share one more photograph of the Eiffel Tower, which I took from this wonderful plaza on the other side of the Seine River. Trocadero is up on a hill and provides one of the best views of this infamous tourist attraction. On either side of the plaza are museums, which I used to frame this shot. And I actually took the photo from the top deck of the ‘Hop-On Hop-Off’ bus while it was stopped.

it should be autumn.. it's hot.

If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Only the "nothing". Or since everything is cyclical, perhaps you have returned to the place where you started, full of wisdom from your long trip. It's probably better to look for intelligent life on Earth, but it's also very likely that you'll have a hard time finding it. Don't worry about not understanding the Universe or the reason for its existence... you're not Einstein, but one day you'll understand that... The Universe is wounded, but it still has infinity ahead of it. It still has you and me. Merry Christmas to all and to the infinite Universe that is within you.

Gregory Alan Isakov - The Universe

Ground Control to Major Tom. Ground Control to Major Tom. Take your protein pills and put your helmet on. Ground Control to Major Tom (ten, nine, eight, seven, six)... Commencing countdown, engines on (five, four, three)... Check ignition and may God's love be with you (two, one, liftoff...)

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX

"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.

Blur - The Universal

The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."

Also Sprach Zarathustra by Richard Strauss (Op. 30) / The Dawn of Man scene, 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick, 1969

This was not a planned shot. I saw him flying by, and just panned and took a few shots. This was the best. My settings were not optimal for this sort of capture, but all things considered, I liked it!

The beach was completely isolated with perfectly clear skies on my last night of camping. I'd been looking for conditions like this for the whole week, and it all came good at the very end. Needless to say I spent the whole night imaging! (and paid the price afterwards 😂)

Wilson's Promontory is geologically significant as it contains some of the oldest rocks in Victoria, dating back over 400 million years. The park's rocky coastline and granite formations offer a glimpse into the ancient geological history of the region. The rounded granite boulders found along Squeaky Beach are particularly famous and are the result of erosion over millions of years.

I spent an enjoyable evening in Leeds with a great group of people from a facebook photography group I'm a member of. We stayed around the area next to the canal side behind Bridgwater Place and took some photos. Here are some of mine.

I wish I'd known you could go up to the Skylounge in the Hilton building next to us; one of the things I really want to do is take a shot of Leeds (or any city) from a high vantage point, especially after dark!

The Pineta Valley is part of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido Natural Park in the Sobrarbe region. A very overwhelming valley due to the high and steep mountains that were formed as a result of the dragging of waste as a product of the thaw, this itself makes the valley have the shape of a U. Its landscape captivates by the lushness of its forests and meadows, along with they stand out the spectacular waterfalls that come down from the top of the mountains.

Thanks to its elevations it turns out to be the ideal place to practice high mountain sports. On its southern crest there is a section of peaks that exceed 2,500 meters in height, towards the southern end there is a trio of peaks known as the three Marías. Continuing towards the north ridge the terrain becomes less steep.

The valley of Pineta is closed in a fairly steep wall, in its upper part where the waterfalls come from is the circus and the balcony of Pineta. Those who have managed to climb to the Balcón de Pineta cannot leave the site without seeing the Marboré lake. A site that offers the best panoramic views of the Monte Perdido Glacier, located between Monte Perdido and Cilindro.

The Pineta circus is one of the most beautiful sights in the valley. It should be noted that the Pineta valley is one of the most accessible points of the Ordesa y Monte Perdido Natural Park thanks to the road that allows access to the bottom of the valley.

Cuando logras situarte,

después de una ascensión,

en lugares como éste

no te queda otra opción.

Siéntate a descansar,

y mientras esto haces

disfruta y mira el lugar

que cada rincón tiene

ese placer que los ojos

van grabando y guardando

para luego recordar.

Llena tus ojos de verde,

que alivia tu bienestar,

y ponle cielo y roca

para bien acompañar.

¡No te levantes, descansa,

que hay mucho que mirar!
