We had a ton of rain and grossly warm weather in the days after Christmas, which made it feel very un-Christmasy, but at least it did give some cool fog views.
One of the things I love about my bike commute is just how often I come across really stunning scenes in familiar places. This particular morning was a perfect example, as early sun streamed through this field of mature oak trees.
Not something i'd ever thought i would be able to capture from my back garden in the midlands of England yet here it is. Last nights display was amazing.

Built at Swindon in 1934, No. 5199 worked at various depots in the Midlands before being scrapped in 1963. After spending 22 years in a scrapyard, restoration was finally completed in February 2003 at Llangollen. 5199 moved to the Battlefield Line in October 2023.
In August, I did my first alley cat race as part of a friend's birthday. We had to visit a bunch of local hockey rinks, which is a funny thing in August. You got bonus points if you touched a Zamboni, so at one rink I asked if that might be possible. The staff there were even nicer and asked if I wanted to sit on one, so I ended up winning the race, largely due to Zamboni bonus points!
During our ride to and from Stillwater, we appreciated the nice rest stop in North St. Paul. It's a great half-wayish point that has a nice bathroom and water, plus some shade.
We took what has become a regular fall trip out to visit the Wood-Rill and Wolsfeld Woods Scientific and Natural Areas in the western suburbs. Both usually have amazing fall colors with lots of beautiful mature maples. Last year we ended up being a day or two late, getting there right after the first harder frost when most of the leaves had just fallen, though that did make for an impressive carpet of leaves on the forest floor.
This picture was captured in Madhabpur Lake, Sreemangal. Few Madrasa students were exploring the tea garden and they were mesmerized.
