Insects are attracted by the plant's sweet smell; they climb down the sides, fall into the water, and messily decompose. It's like the plot of a bad action movie.

The pitchers are beginning to flower.

My first fieldtrip to Shaken Creek Preserve owned by The Nature Conservancy located near Maple Hill, NC. There was about 25 people who attended. We visited two sites and saw many great plants.
