I discovered an 8 foot tall Camellia tree (bush?) growing in my front yard. Yes, I have a yard where you can discover 8 foot tall objects, even after living here for 12+ years. There was always a very small Camellia that seldom bloomed but I noticed that behind that, and behind a larger bush, was the huge one. This year especially they are both covered with blooms and they all just opened today - so beautiful.
When I first found it I thought, oh no, I better get rid of that big bush that's shading it so it will grow better. Some small part of my brain intercepted that with the realization I had it backwards - it was growing so well BECAUSE of the shade! Whew. :)

Camellia japonica, 'Pink Perfection' My parents were Camellia fanciers, when we moved from Glendale Ca. in 1952 they brought several of their more prized camellias with them. Pink Perfection was one they could not leave behind.

Some "Pink Perfection" clematis. I actually went on a walk a couple Saturdays ago intending to find and reshoot the irises from the previous day—for lack of other ideas—but I found these instead.
This classic formal heirloom ornamental is unquestionably one of most popular Japanese Camellias. A true specimen that is hardy and long lived with history dating to 1875. It’s well earned superb name recognition is confirmed at first glance of it’s individual soft clear pink flowers which are two to three inch complete doubles. It’s smooth even bloom without ruffles or twists, called "rose form" or "formal double" are mirrored in it’s name... 'Pink Perfection'.
