Mahalaya, also known as Pitru Paksha (Sanskrit: पितृ पक्ष),
Pitru Paksha is considered by Hindus to be inauspicious, given the death rite performed during the ceremony, known as Shraddha or tarpan. In southern and western India, it falls in the Hindu lunar month of Bhadrapada (September–October), beginning with the full moon day (Purnima) that occurs immediately after the Ganesh festival and ending with the new moon day known as Sarvapitri amavasya, Mahalaya amavasya or simply Mahalaya.
Annadaana ("Donation of food") is a central part of the rituals during these 16 days. On all these days, offerings are made to the departed, including those whose names or manner of death are not known. On these days tarpan, shraaddha and pinda daan are performed daily according to the procedures under the guidance of a priest.
Hereby an introduction of my youngest creation; small Pin-Da Peanut Faeries 45mm Micro BJD. I chose this name because I think this is a nice and suitable name. You might think that there is another meaning attached to it, but I certainly didn't mean that in this case!
In the second instance, I started to think further about this fueled by the fuss about the magazine 'PINDA'.
The word peanut has a nasty association for a number of Indo-Dutch 'Indos' because it used to be used by white fellow Dutch as a swear word. Then two more words followed. For yet another group of Indos, it has become a geuzennaam. After much consideration, I have chosen to use this name, albeit with a small play on words. It is about naming my own fantasy creatures and it has no further nasty intentions.
PS By the way, I had started making my Pin-Da faerie much earlier before I even knew that such a magazine would appear with this name.

according to the "Hindu" mythology after the death, soul of human being still remain in this materialistic world..It is believed that offering foods, water to the ancestors mainly by men on the auspicious day of "Mahalaya" provide permanent peace to the Departed soul of the Dead persons.
De pinda-vormige woonboot 'Nessy' is volledig vervaardigd uit Cortenstaal. De roestkleurige en zeer dichte oxide huid schermt het dieper liggende materiaal af van zuurstof, waardoor de oxidatie sterk vertraagd wordt. Door de oxidehuid is het niet nodig het materiaal te schilderen. De bruine roestkleur die in de komende tijd verder ontstaat, is het meest typische uiterlijke kenmerk.

A peanut shaped, rusty boat in the historical centre of Amsterdam. Two levels where contemporary solutions are provided for each different use, within the small amount of space available. This corten steel project encloses a pure, balanced interior where daylight coming in through windows in the roof and walls encounters white walls to enhance a sense of spaciousness. Rooms are portioned off in accordance with the intended activities. Thus two fundamental objectives were met: privacy and rich spaces.

Psittacula krameri
Gaya (கயை) ,is an important holy place for Hindus and is 13 km from Bodh Gaya , Bihar . It is a ritual place and it is famous for Pinda daan. People from all over the country, come here to perform pinda daan puja for their deceased ancestors. This rituals brings peace to the wandering souls . Vishnupad Temple is situated in the centre of the town. This temple is believed to have been built on the sacred footsteps of Vishnu which is also preserved in the temple on a rock set in a silver basin. This grand temple was renovated by Rani Ahalyabai, the queen of Indore in 1787. This 30 m high temple has 8 rows of beautifully carved pillars which support the mandapa or pavilion. Within the temple stands the immortal banyan tree 'Akshayabat' where the final rituals for the dead takes place. It is believed that a Hindu will reach heaven if his last rites are offered under this tree. This place is also believed to be the one under which the Buddha meditated for six years.
