The Pindaya Caves are a major Buddhist pilgrimage site and tourist attraction set in the hills overlooking the small town of Pindaya. The main cave contains hundreds of gilded Buddha images, crammed into every available space within, dating from the late 18th century onwards and is entered through the Shwe U Min (Golden Cave) Pagoda built into the hillside.

Tsen Koa Pai, who was popularly known as Pinda Wullem, was the first Chinese in Venlo and lived here from 1937 to 1963. He earned his Venlo name from the peanut bars he sold from his sales box. The original bronze statue was stolen in 2016 and ir was replaced by this stone statue in 2021.
