The lower half of Kaaterskill Falls in Hunter, N.Y.
On this day the falls were a challenge to photograph, crowded with people and with muted colors. Hence the black and white treatment.
And along with the other obstacles, right above the top of this photo were people doing rope rescue drills down the cliff face along the upper falls.
(Public Service Announcement here ... the rescuers have good reason to practice, though the Medevac pilots can probably fly here with their eyes closed by now. An incredible number of people have been critically injured or killed after climbing past the "Trail ends here" sign, trying to get up to the upper falls. In August I read about the third fatality in 2010 alone. No doubt many more who were left broken and bleeding but alive didn't even make it into the news. In this particular case, the "stay on the trail" signs are dead serious and should be obeyed. Unless of course you're a better climber than the others ... )
This pilot wears a fictional flight suit made for high speed and heavy Gs. I made up all the following information (sorry it's so long):
BACKGROUND: Advanced Flight Suit Support System (AFSSS)
The AFSSS is the next generation flight suit used by the Andara Republic Air Force (ARAF) and Andara Republic Navy (ARN) for the stresses of modern air combat. The AFSSS is highly advanced with the ability to withstand 21G of force and can apply a healing agent to heal or stabilize the pilot when wounded. Additionally the suit can provide a GPS signal to aid rescue units if the pilot crashes.
HEAD: NeuroLink Cognitive Helmet (NCIH)
The NeuroLink Cognitive Helmet (NCIH) features a neural link between the user and the plane. This allowed the pilot to see information of the wearers suit status & aircraft’s systems without using his/her hands
BODY (INNER LAYER): Adaptive Bio-Sync Undersuit (ABU)
The Adaptive Bio-Sync Undersuit (ABU) monitors body temperature, pulse, oxygen levels, and detect any injury external or internal, transferring this to the LSAM
BODY (MIDDLE LAYER): Exo-Frame Reinforcement Layer (ERL)
The Exo-Frame Reinforcement Layer (ERL) provides enhanced performance to the wearer, increasing strength and allowing up to 21G of force without the pilot blacking out
BODY (OUTER LAYER): SpecterSkin Outer Shell
The SpecterSkin Outer Shell provides armor to the pilot in case he/she has to bail out. This armor prevents injury from all small arm weapons
LIFE SUPPORT: Life Support & Atmospheric Module (LSAM)
The Life Support & Atmospheric Module (LSAM) provides oxygen to the pilot as well as a classified healing agent used to heal any external injuries or stabilize the pilot of any internal injuries the pilot may have
POWER SUPPLY: Power Core and Energy Distribution Grid (PCEDG)
The Power Core and Energy Distribution Grid (PCEDG) is designed to provide power to the AFSSS with all the power it needs with a Tirinium ION Battery for up to 100 hours
HANDS: Tactical Control Gauntlets (TCG)
The pilot wears a pair of Tactical Control Gauntlets (TCG) with their suit to increase endurance by enhancing the pilot’s hand movements and increasing the pilot’s clutching ability
EMERGENCY: Emergency Survival and Egress System (ESES)
The Emergency Survival and Egress System (ESES) is used in times when the pilot has to eject, if the pilot crashes into water, or if the plane is on fire. If the plane is on fire the ESES provides countermeasures. When the pilot needs to eject the ESES will deploy the chute once the NCIH confirms the pilot is a safe distance away. If the pilot lands or crashes into water the ESES sends a GPS signal back to base to provide rescue units a precise location of the pilot
at work last week we used a helicopter to fight the plant "Scotch Broom" so the pilot Corbit Baker showed off his skills among the trees darting in and out :)

Here we can see front pilot damage on the 7591. A farmer in his tractor was struck on a rural grade crossing south of Chatsworth, IL. Work was being done on the anti-climber, a new coupler has already been installed and new plow will come soon. The handrails were spared. Luckily the farmer was unharmed, but the same can't be said for his tractor.

Opened in 1971, the Trinity House Pilot Station at Folkestone was designed by architect John Hill and was operational until 1988 when technological advances rendered this brutalist gem redundant. It was demolished in 2014.
