The Lagotto Romagnolo is a working dog. These dogs have sharp senses, are very loyal and loving making them the perfect guard dog and family companion. The Lagotto Romagnolo are extremely easy to train. These dogs get along with other animals very easily if socialized from a young age.

He is a great truffle sniffer. His name is Jack Bauer a Lagotto Romagnolo dog.
The Lagotto Romagnolo has earned the nickname "Truffle Dog". In Italy, a truffle is a much prized underground tuber. These fungi have a strong aroma that is used by the Italians to flavour rice dishes and pasta sauces. Because of the dog's keen sense of smell it can locate the much valued edible fungi.
This is the only breed of dog that is officially recognized as specialized in truffle hunting the only breed of dog that is officially recognized as specialized in truffle hunting.
