There are many here on flickr. Many of us are bound deeply to our pets, and studies show that is a healing thing. I suppose all of our pet pictures are efforts to show, or even explain our bonds, yet no explanation really serves. Love across species barriers reveals a bit of nature’s soul.
Here is my Poko, smiling and content, atop Salvation Knoll, a viewpoint the country of Cedar Mesa, Utah. Arizona and Monument Valley lie in the far bright distance on this early spring day.

"I've been looking so long at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel
Remembering you standing quiet in the rain
As I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell in, holding you close
How I always held close in your fear
Remembering you running soft through the night
You were bigger and brighter and wider than snow
You screamed at the make-believe, screamed at the sky
And you finally found all your courage to let it all go
Remembering you, fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
You were stone white, so delicate
Lost in the cold
You were always so lost in the dark
Remembering you how you used to be
Slow drowned, you were angels
So much more than everything
Hold for the last time then slip away quietly
Open my eyes, but I never see anything
If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held on to your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
I wouldn't be breaking apart
All my pictures of you
Looking so long at these pictures of you
But I never hold on to your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true
But always just breaking apart
My pictures of you
There was nothing in the world that I ever wanted more
Than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world that I ever wanted more
Than to never feel the breaking apart.
My pictures of you"

Here the road seems to stop.Time for a short rest and break from my adventures through the jungle.Enjoying the view and the nature while thinking of new adventures.Thinking also of home and a bath.
The Jungle Vol XIV
Somebody's shouting
Up at a mountain
Only my own words return
Nobody's up there
It's a deception
When will I ever learn?
I'm alone here
With emptiness eagles and snow
Unfriendliness chilling my body
And whispering pictures of home
Wondering blindly
How can they find me
Maybe they don't even know
My body is shaking
Anticipating
The call of the black footed crow...
Here in this prison
Of my own making
Year after day I have grown
Into a hero
But there's no worship
Where have they hidden my thrown...

I put your picture away
I wonder where you've been
I can't look at you while I'm lyin' next to him

"The idea you hold of someone isn't really what that person is like. Sometimes you completely lose touch with what a person has turned into. You just want to hold onto what they were."

A sunny slider for Sliders Sunday, photographed two years ago at my favourite Park in Berlin, the Britzer Garten. Unlike the years before, we had managed (by pure chance, of course) to be there when the water lilies were blooming. Britzer Garden is a huge park in Berlin's southwestern district of Neukölln that was opened in 1985 when West Berlin hosted the "BUGA", the Bundesgartenschau (Germany's biennial "Federal Horticulture Show"). The park's wooden "main bridge" with its characteristic triangular pillars is also called "Rhizomatische Brücke" because its design is modelled on the branched root system (rhizome) of the surrounding trees.
Happy Sliders Sunday, everyone, and have a nice week ahead!
.... there's a stretch of the Water of Leith river that runs through the heart of Edinburgh. It's good to walk along the banks of the river there, and look at the reflections of the bijou waterside residences, and other things, like this.
Happy "Smile on Saturday" with "objects taking pictures"!
... and thank you so much for your views, faves and comments!
I've been spending quite a bit of time, over the past months, looking closely at the weathered outcrops of rock around the coasts of Scotland. In this short series, I've posted a few of the photos I've taken of some of the 'designs' that caught my eye on sedimentary rocks. I hope you enjoy looking at them, in all their graininess.
Come visit Fab Free, the longest running Freebie blog on the grid, where you'll get the scoop on the best free gifts around and learn about new designers you've not known of before! Today, I've got a gorgeous new group gift to show you from RabbitHouse. The details on how to get it are in my post below:
