My sadness is that, though he was an accountant and worked daily with numbers throughout his career, his birthday had not been celebrated as Pi Day before he passed on in 1991... I wonder if he ever tumbled to the fact...

The town of Princeton, New Jersey, hosts numerous events in a combined celebration of Pi Day and Albert Einstein's birthday, which is also March 14. Einstein lived in Princeton for more than twenty years while working at the Institute for Advanced Study. In addition to pie eating and recitation contests, there is an annual Einstein look-alike contest.

In one or two countries the date is written eccentrically, with month coming before day. Thus today's date would be 3.14.23 rather than 14.3.23. In such countries today is Pi Day.
Here the lovely Ama Pipi, a British athlete, is helping us to mark said Pi day. (I took her photo ten years ago, so she looks rather older now.)
First look at our new Raspberry. This is a very tiny computer running Debian Linux and booting from an SD card. It was ordered from RS in the UK and took about 3 Months to arrive because they had a massive manufacturing backlog and high demand on the tiny machine. It uses a USB style power cable, has HDMI, Audio and Composite out. One of the two USB sockets has a wireless mouse controller in it and a CAT5 network cable is plugged in. So far it seems responsive and fast completing basic web browsing. Ideal for home media streaming, low heat, low power and very small. It is basically an ARM mobile phone without the phone.

O Pi tem efeito duochrome, com uma combinação de verde e azul (quase petróleo) dependendo da iluminação. Nas fotos ele ficou totalmente azul, mas quem quiser conferir uma foto com ele mais puxado para o verde só é clicar aqui.
Quando está verde me lembra muito o famoso Salto Agulha da Beauty Color.

Just an icon picture for today, 3/14/15, the Pi day -π-, remembering Archimedes and the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.14159. The relation that exists between the diameter and the lenght in a circumference. So, been a little unorthodox I try to do something different from the Pi character and represent it with a greek plate. Do you imagine those beautiful minds calculating all over Athens and making some extraordinary democracy treaties or seeing the stars and marveling about astronomy..? Wonderful. What ancient greeks could make at present with technology and information?.. Another marvel, I suppose. But never know.

Cala Pi ist eine wunderschöne von Kiefern umgebene Buch mit dem alten Verteidigungsturm aus dem 16 Jh. Zu einer bestimmten Tageszeit leuchtet die Buch in Türkisfarben.

Yes, posting out of order again. Such is the story of my life these days.
52 in 2022, #8 my favourite number has got to be pi, with zero (so handy, how did those Romans do without it?) coming in a close second.
And that's a 4, not a 9 -- my decorating skills are non-existent. :-)

The Gang heard it was Pi Day, and they all wanted a piece. But since I didn't prepare to have pie, I thought I could have them each hold a number which is part of the numeric expression of pi.
So they all agreed to this idea that they could each have 'a piece of pi.'
After this photo, I turned and was pelted by the tiny number tiles.
There is a lot of ugliness now in my house. They are still wanting real pie.
