I consider this statue in Kensington Gardens to be an asset to the park unlike the Henry Moore one.
Physical Energy is a bronze equestrian statue by English artist George Frederic Watts. Watts was principally a painter, but also worked on sculptures from the 1870s. Physical Energy was first cast in 1902, two years before his death, and was intended to be Watts's memorial to "unknown worth". Watts said it was a symbol of "that restless physical impulse to seek the still unachieved in the domain of material things". The original plaster maquette is at the Watts Gallery, and there are four full-size bronze casts: one in London, one in Cape Town, one in Harare and one soon to be sited at Watts Gallery - Artists' Village in Compton, Surrey. Other smaller bronze casts were also made after Watts's death.
Tribute to Hirst's Shark :)

"The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living" the title of one of the most famous works of the English artist Damien Hirst (1991). It represents a shark as if suspended in a huge formalin aquarium. Not durable, these works deteriorate over time and need to be replaced.
For Hirst, the shark represents both a terrible aesthetic of nature and a figure of capitalism. Hirst is a “symptomatic” artist who speaks to us, in his own way, of the evils of our time.
« L’impossibilité physique de la mort dans l’esprit du vivant », ainsi pourrions-nous traduire le titre d’une des œuvres les plus connues de l’artiste anglais Damien Hirst (1991). Cette dernière représente un requin comme suspendu dans un immense aquarium de formol. Non pérennes, ces œuvres se détériorent avec le temps et demandent à être remplacées.
Pour Hirst, le requin représente à la fois une esthétique de la nature terrible et une figure du capitalisme. Hirst est un artiste « symptomatique » qui nous parle, à sa manière, des maux de notre époque.

En garant ma voiture j'ai entendu la forêt qui résonnait de tambourinements de pics . Je me suis dit que c'est peut-être le bon moment pour tenter ma chance pour en photographier avant que les feuilles des arbres s'ouvrent. Il y avait plusieurs pics épeiches tout près mais pour les repérer c'était vraiment pas évident. La chance m'a souri quand j'ai vu deux qui se poursuivaient autour de moi. J'ai attendu qu'ils s'approchent plutôt que leur courir après et c'était la bonne méthode. Deux heures de pur bonheur mais quel effort physique avec le 800mm à bout de bras.

While parking my car, I heard the forest echoing with the drumming of peaks. I thought it might be the right time to try my luck and photograph them before the leaves of the trees open. There were several great spotted woodpeckers nearby but to spot them it was really not easy. Luck smiled at me when I saw two chasing each other around me. I waited for them to approach rather than run after them and it was the right method. Two hours of pure happiness but what a physical effort with the 800mm at arm’s length.

Bear Den Mountain, Adirondacks
I long for the days when I had a constitution of steel, driven to climb all of the peaks arrayed before me, and all the other compass points I could turn and look out at from this vantage point. This place has long been a favorite spot to break out my gear and look for compositions, whether as part of the longer hike south of me, or as a destination for a shorter outing. This morning the sun has gained on me, low in winter trajectory and casting its shadows as it clears the ridges behind me. Its burn highlights the iron oxide in an erratic deposited here in the pleistocene, as the massive ice sheets sculpted the Adirondack dome. North Country lore is sprinkled with iron. Furnaces and ore pits still stand in parts of the landscape, a history hinted at in my reddish-tinged granite boulder, posing on the verge of the Ausable Valley. I’ve been fortunate to have explored so much of America’s wildness; this country stands as hard as any landscape I’ve been in, and it hardens those willing to return after being scathed. Switchbacks were mostly unheard of up here, so topping these mountains is as much a matter of iron will as physical prowess. I have a long and chequered history of loves, romantic and spiritual, each accusing the other of time spent devoting my fidelities elsewhere. My regrets haunt me still. Rock will wear smooth, the forests will darken, iron will rust, and youth fades. The heart never concedes.
The physical sun is the realm of the higher souls of the more pure and evolutionary in the Cosmos. Your soul has to be very pure and high evolutionally to be able to enter the heavenly realms of the Sun. All the other angelic souls go the Moon realm and planetary realms and the non so evolutionary souls go to the Nether worlds below Earth, to the Patala underworlds or Ades of the ancient Greeks. Below Ades or Patala is Naraka what we call Hell worlds or Tartara in ancient Greek.
The souls that live now in the Sun realm we may call them gods for they are responsible and guardians of the Earth and the planetary worlds. The fate and destiny of the Earth is in their hands and they control its fate.
Now we enter the Solar maximum when we have many explosions of the sun in the form of flares bombarding our Earth and its (magnetic) atmosphere. These flares now have significant power and energy energising the Earth and its inhabitants. The flares that hit the Earth in this period of Solar maximum will have a great spiritual and energetic and purifying effect in all beings now living on Earth. The physical beings now living on Earth even the plants and animals will have to be purified in order to withstand these higher energies coming from the Sun. Not everyone will manage to withstand these purifications waves coming from the sun and many will succumb to them not being able to withstanding its energies for they have not been prepared by God to handle these high elevated energies. Many will suffer from illnesses and various karmas not being able to handle these purifying energies. The purification of the energy of the sun will continue non stop through this year and the next till all that remains on Earth is purified.
Many souls knew this coming and had prepare themselves by purifying their bodies with pure sathwic foods and purifying their minds and heart with godly thoughts and sentiments loving all Gods creations. The Avatar of the Lord also descended on Earth and gathered the lovers of God beside Him the previous decades and gave them the instructions and teachings necessary to purify their souls and bodies to be able to withstand the purification rays coming from the sun this solar maximum.
From this purification that is now happening from the Sun rays and flares all the consciousness on Earth will rise to an unprecedented level heralding the Golden Age of humanity and closing the Kali Yuga of wars and strife and vengeance among the souls now living on Earth.
The Earth and its inhabitants are now entering a new Era of peace and love and truth and justice after this purification ends in the next two years and only those who will withstand this purification happening now will continue to live and inhabit the Earth.
Only deva, that is God like people will walk on the surface of the Earth during this Golden Age of humanity called by the Veda as the Sathya Yuga, the Age of Truth.
So do not be afraid and in panic for the gods living now in the Sun realm know what are they doing and how they will use the flares that are ejected by the sun. They hold the destiny of Earth in their hands trusted by the almighty God fully in unison with Him. At the right time a big flare will emanate from the Sun that will finish the purification process and then Earth and its inhabitants will shine in a new splendour, the splendour of the Golden Age of Truth !

It wasn’t until I saw this photo of a Checkered Swallowtail—perched here on a zinnia, by the way—that I realized just how long a butterfly’s legs can actually be.
In proportion to its body size, it looks almost unnatural.
Fortunately, its proboscis is even longer, allowing it to drink quite comfortably even from that elevated position.
And now I know what I want to share with you for this floral Monday greeting. I had actually dismissed the idea, as I simply couldn't think of anything.
Perhaps there are traits about yourself that you perceive—possibly influenced by the judgment or criticism of others—as a shortcoming or even a flaw. These can be both physical characteristics and behaviors.
This can include both physical characteristics and behaviors. Perhaps you think you're too tall, too short, too loud, too quiet, too thoughtful, or too carefree. Or perhaps it's something else entirely.
In any case, apart from actual physical impairments, this is objectively never the case. In the vast majority of cases, the reason is simply that you behave differently than your environment expects of you. Just as I expected this butterfly to have shorter legs.
So today, along with wishing you a successful and sunny week, I hope you realize that being extraordinary—that is, anything but ordinary—is a valuable quality to be nurtured and shared with the world.
So free yourself from the expectations of others and simply be yourself.
Erst als ich dieses Foto eines *Karrierten Schwalbenschwanz sah – der hier übrigens auf einer Zinnie sitzt –, wurde mir bewusst, wie lang die Beine eines Schmetterlings eigentlich sein können.
Im Verhältnis zur Körpergröße wirkt das beinahe unnatürlich.
Glücklicherweise ist sein Rüssel noch länger, sodass er auch von seiner recht hoch gelegenen Position aus ganz entspannt trinken kann.
Und nun weiß ich auch, was ich im Rahmen dieses blumigen Montagsgrußes mit euch teilen möchte. Eigentlich hatte ich den Gedanken schon verworfen, da mir einfach nichts einfallen wollte.
Vielleicht gibt es Eigenschaften an euch selbst, die ihr – womöglich beeinflusst durch das Urteil oder die Kritik anderer – als Manko oder gar als Makel wahrnehmt. Dies können sowohl physische Eigenschaften als auch Verhaltensweisen sein. Vielleicht denkt ihr ja, das ihr zu groß, zu klein, zu laut, zu leise, zu nachdenklich oder zu unbeschwert seid. vielleicht ist es auch etwas ganz anderes.
In jedem Fall, abgesehen von tatsächlichen körperlichen Beeinträchtigungen, ist dies objektiv betrachtet niemals der Fall. In den allermeisten Fällen liegt der Grund schlicht darin, dass ihr euch anders verhaltet, als es euer Umfeld von Euch erwartet. So wie ich von diesem Schmetterling kürzere Beine erwartet habe.
Und so wünsche ich Euch neute, neben einer erfolgreichen und sonnigen Woche, dass ihr erkennt: Außergewöhnlich zu sein – also alles andere als gewöhnlich –, ist eine wertvolle Eigenschaft, die es zu pflegen und mit der Welt zu teilen gilt.
Also amcht Euch freu von den Erwartungen anderer und seid einfach Ihr selbst.

The Alaska Railroad has no physical connection to the rest of the North American rail network. But that doesn't prevent them from having a robust interchange. The ARR owns a service and interchanges weekly with the BNSF and UP in Seattle via barges owned and operated under contract by Alaska Marine Lines.
The barge pictured here is the Aqua Train (blt 1982) and is owned and operated by Foss Maritime under contract to CN. Whittier is the designated interchange point and once loaded on the barge this is a CN "train." Currently the aqua train makes two round trips per month between Prince Rupert and Whittier.
This unique drone's eye down on view shows the 8 track layout that tapers to 6 on one end with two switches on the deck. This is to accommodate the layout of the slip in Prince Rupert which does not allow the barge to move to four positions like they can here (the AML barges are 8 straight tracks and the barge is shifted side to side to line up with the two track slip). This barge is loaded completely to the gills with 45 cars of southbound interchange. Lashed to her bow on the port side is the 118.7 ft long Justine Foss, a 4300 hp tug built in 1976.

With Winter gone and May is finally here. It’s nice to know that the heavy April showers have left as well. It’s time to “Spring Into Action” as we plant ground cover, flowers and more trees than I care to count. The longer days are great. Temperatures are such that we can enjoy being outside whether taking a walk or working in the yard. I hope to take and share plenty of photos this season. Gratitude and Kindness grow much like our garden but without the physical labor.

The Covid19 physical lock-down period gave me time to explore with macro photography in my backyard. #naturallightmacro
May is late autumn in Australia when autumn colours are everywhere. Using water droplets on these tiny dandelions seeds, I focused my reversed mount lens as macro lens to view my bright red persimmons tree through the tiny world of the droplets.
Depending on your perspectives and imagination, they do look like some blood cell, Covid19 virus or tiny tiny glass marble with their mysterious content.

I took this photo in the park which has become my weekly "get out of the condo destination" during the pandemic. It has always been a favourite place to go with my camera and now is a good place which allows for nice walks with appropriate physical distancing from other people.
This bird was fairly near the bench I was sitting at, I've never seen a bird like it in this park. I immediately thought it was a chukar (aka chukar partridge) which, although not common are found in the region. Several people stopped on their walks to chat about the bird, all saying that they too had never seen one like it here before and a couple of them expressed the opinion that it was a chukar. Then one guy said the colour seemed a bit wrong for a chukar and I'd been thinking that too so when I got home I did some googling and have decided it is probably a rock partridge which, as it turns out, is very closely related to the chukar.
Autumn, also known as Fall in North American English, is one of the four temperate seasons. Outside the tropics, autumn marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere). Autumn is the season when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools considerably. Day length decreases and night length increases as the season progresses until the Winter Solstice in December (Northern Hemisphere) and June (Southern Hemisphere). One of its main features in temperate climates is the striking change in colour for the leaves of deciduous trees as they prepare to shed.
Although colour change in leaves occurs wherever deciduous trees are found, coloured autumn foliage is noted in various regions of the world: most of North America, Eastern Asia (including China, Korea, and Japan), Europe, southeast, south and part of the midwest of Brazil, the forest of Patagonia, eastern Australia and New Zealand's South Island.
Eastern Canada and New England are famous for their autumnal foliage, and this attracts major tourism (worth billions of US dollars) for the regions.
Sometimes things don't feel right or unbelivable. There were many sculptures like this on the beach. Its amazing but just looking at them was so relaxing while the sun set down.
