Worked in our garden.

We are ready, so are the flowers and plants, the bees, birds, butterflies.

A haven of peace and tranquility, with lovely colours and fragrances.

There is opulence so I'm sharing some here with you.

Shot with the 70-300mm, I wanted to capture them with some backlight and no flair.

Not cropped, comp in camera!

Have a wonderful day and thank you, M, (*_*)

Aquilegia chrysantha 'Yellow Queen' .

This columbine cultivar is perennial that features large, upward facing, fragrant, bright yellow flowers with long, outward curving spurs.

Flowers grow on a long stem above the leaves and have five pointed yellow sepals and five yellow petals with long spurs projecting backwards between the sepals.

At the center of the flower are many yellow stamens.

Aquilegia comes from the Latin word for eagle in reference to the flower's five spurs which purportedly resemble an eagle's talon.

THANK YOU for your time and comments, greatly appreciated, M, (*_*)

Fruit, nuts, veggie's and other beauties... typical for Autumn, a taste of the next season.

LES ECHALOTTES

The name of the shallot derives from the name of the city of Ashkelon (Latin ‘Ascalon’) in ancient Canaan, in Italian its name is "scalogno". M, (*_*)

for many reasons...

Hydrangea are the flowers of the moment, I have all colours now!

However today, I give you the blue ones.

two in the same vase, and see, different light=different colour.

These were fast drying and the little single brown petal was starting to go lacy!

In from the garden.

I hope your day is filled with beauty, thank you for your comments, Magda, (*_*)

Another one of my 'FLOWER-STUDIES'.

PART II

The second stage!

A personal favourite.

You will find beauty in everything, just look!!!

The back of a Dandelion seed head (clock).

Children LOVE them!

We don't like them in our gardens... AND YET: The dandelion plant is a beneficial weed, with a wide range of uses, and is even a good companion plant for gardening.

Its taproot will bring up nutrients for shallower-rooting plants, and add minerals and nitrogen to soil.

It is also known to attract pollinating insects and release ethylene gas which helps fruit to ripen.

Taraxacum seeds are an important food source for certain birds.

Taraxacum, the common name is dandelion (from French dent-de-lion, meaning "lion's tooth"), after flowering is finished, the dandelion flower head dries out for a day or two.

The dried petals and stamens drop off, the bracts reflex (curve backwards), and the parachute ball opens into a full sphere. Finally, the seed-bearing parachutes expand and lift out of it.

The parachute drops off the achene when it strikes an obstacle.

After the seed is released, the parachutes loose their feathered structure and take on a fuzzy, cotton-like appearance, often called "dandelion snow".Another thing I love about being a photographer, you start looking at things in a 'different' way?

About 'BEAUTY'.. artists sculpt, architects build, painters paint, photographers make images... the 'makers' and 'keepers' of beauty of moment?

Take care, be safe!

Enjoy and make the BEST of every day! Thanks, M, (*_*)

Galanthus nivalis plenus

These double Snowdrops have all the charm and grace of their single counterparts, but their multiple white petals make the flowers somewhat showier.

Each flower is a masterpiece!

The inside shows a double center with a pattern of fresh green stripes.

As a photographer, your main tools are:

- you, as a person with a creative mind.

- your eyes, using the visual literacy.

- your camera, keep it in shipshape, handle it with the care and respect it deserves (even as a pro!!!).

- the technical and practical knowledge you have acquired over the years!

-sense and sensibility...

THANK you for ALL your comments and visits, so appreciated, M, (*_*)

A VIVALDI WINTER…

www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc_yKk0k5XE

A Flanders' winter-sunset

I waited a long time for the right moment, was on my way home when I saw this in the side mirror.

I left my car on the side of the narrow road, grabbed my camera.

This is so very typical, the gnarled willows to keep the flat land 'dry', the sky reaching poplars, the majestic elm trees standing tall against the North wind.

In winter the sun just drops, eh?

So, only one negative!

Nikon F4 and 400asa film, scanned from neg and comp in camera!

Ah well I got it, went home a happy bunny... M, (*_~)

Lilium longiflorum.

And I have a demanding presence!

Also a most pleasant fragrance.

This plant is native to Japan and the Ryukyu Islands.

It is a stem rooting lily, growing up to 1 m high and bears a number of trumpet shaped, white, very fragrant, and outward facing flowers.

I love the subtle tones, all the varied tones, that give the flower/petals/stems their texture, depth and form, their delectable shapes accentuated, extracted and emphasised without the colour.

Don't you agree?

Hot pink Ranunculus.

Persian buttercup (Ranunculus asiaticus) is a perennial plant that can grow to be a foot and a half tall.

The petals are often highly lustrous, some species are popular ornamental flowers in horticulture, with many cultivars selected for large and brightly coloured flowers.

What got me 'in' to 'flower-photography', was that I wanted to know more about lighting.

That was 30 years ago, flowers seemed the perfect subject matter, because of their different colours, shapes, textures, great variety and 'characters', I'd had many a garden, grown my own, so, I started out with an advantage, I knew about flowers...

I found a niche in the market, for almost 20 years now people have been 'raving' about them, asking me how I 'do' it?

There is NO magic formula, each flower is unique and treated as such!

I do NOT consider myself a 'flower-photographer' but a a photographer who knows how to use lighting well and with a great love for flowers...

Glad you enjoy them.

Thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

Their glorious season is now.

Trees are an important part of the terrestrial ecosystem, providing essential habitats including many kinds of forest for communities of organisms.

Epiphytic plants such as ferns, some mosses, liverworts, orchids and some species of parasitic plants (e.g., mistletoe) hang from branches; these along with arboreal lichens, algae, and fungi provide micro-habitats for themselves and for other organisms, including animals.

Leaves, flowers and fruits are seasonally available.

On the ground underneath trees there is shade, and often there is undergrowth, leaf litter, and decaying wood that provide other habitat.

Trees stabilise the soil, prevent rapid run-off of rain water, help prevent desertification, have a role in climate control and help in the maintenance of biodiversity and ecosystem balance.

Trees tend to be long-lived, some reaching several thousand years old.

Trees have been in existence for 370 million years.

It is estimated that there are some three trillion mature trees in the world.

Have a fun day and thank you, M, (*_*)

Closely related to bok choi, this leafy green Chinese vegetable belongs to the cabbage family (though tastes nothing like cabbage!).

It has long green, slightly ribbed leaf stalks and soft oval green leaves.

The leaves and stems are best suited to brief stir-frying or steaming to retain their mild flavour.

Occasionally you may be able to find baby pak choi which can be cooked whole.

Great for a diet, because few calories!

I use it in stir-fries and soups.

I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments and faves.

Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

From bud to bloom.

From my garden, a few days of lesser weather, the Roses suffered, I watched till I could no more and then brought them in... and here it is, one of them, the showy Just Joey, for our pleasure.

Few roses are as perfumed as 'Just Joey' a classic variety, with a fabulous scent and stunning depth of colour.

The salmon, coppery-orange flowers have pronounced red veining, with the whole bloom fading to a satisfying copper-buff with age.

It is also very disease-proof and undemanding.

Hybrid Tea Rose and has a fruity fragrance (to me it smells like ripe raspberries mmmmmm) which wafts from large ruffled salmon blooms, once opened.

This superstar rose is from England. Just Joey roses were inducted into the Hall of Fame by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 1994.

The flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems.

The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit.

Have a lovely day and thank you for your comments, M, (*_*)
