Egyptians like relaxed conversations.

The entrance of the temples meet special conditions, since the opportunity generated by the influx of visitors and the weather, help in the generation of topics and circumstances to comment.

The temple was dedicated to Isis, Osiris, and Horus. Philae is the place where Isis found the heart of Osiris and then, buried it in a nearby island. Isis was an important figure in the ancient world because she was the enchantress, who resurrected Osiris and gave birth to their son Horus.

Aswan, Egypt

(Scanned picture from paper original)

Our last full day with the group and our guide in Egypt as the holiday was almost at an end for most of us. Our Nile cruise had ended here in Aswan. John had got over the worst of his tummy troubles, the likes of which I had contracted as well, but was coping with and the day would be one of the more easier ones. The heat had abated somewhat which was helping as well.

Our first trip out was to the temple at Philae, more known for it's more recent history than it's past and known as 'The Pearl of the Nile'. When Egypt built the Aswan High Dam between 1970 and 1980 that now powers a huge amount of the country they had to flood vast tracts of land, creating this reservoir and Lake Nasser. Philae Temple was situated to low so would have disappeared under the rising flood waters. So with UNESCO international help they moved it stone by stone to a newly levelled island on higher ground called Agilkia between 1977 to 1980. Now, to visit the island and the temple, little ferries take you there.

Rosetta’s lander Philae has been identified in OSIRIS narrow-angle camera images taken on 2 September 2016 from a distance of 2.7 km. The image scale is about 5 cm/pixel.

Philae’s 1 m-wide body and two of its three legs can be seen extended from the body. The images also provide proof of Philae’s orientation.

A Rosetta Navigation Camera image taken on 16 April 2015 is shown at top right for context, with the approximate location of Philae on the small lobe of Comet Churyumov-Gerasimenko marked.

Popped this into the mail - I hope it helps

The set of temples on the island of Philé does not constitute an isolated system. Rather, it is closely linked to other nearby temples (Abaton) and to the series of Nubian temples that, from Philé, dot the shores of Lower Nubia. The pharaohs (almost continuously in each reign) had donated "the fields" (the Dodekaschoenos) to the goddess, which is the same as saying: to her priests.

On the island, there is a clear gradation in the temples. The main temple is that of Isis, which occupies the main axial position, while the other temples (Arensnufis, Imhotep, etc.) are subordinate to that of the goddess, being located transversally to said axis.

The decoration of the walls of the temples that make up the Philae complex was carried out according to a system described by Eleni Vassilika (Ptolemaic Philae), according to which the artists, following the guidelines of the theologians, would have produced a series of decorative cartoons from which the wall decorations would have been erected, maintaining strict regulated standards.
