The hallway in the Contemporary and Modern Hall of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

I was waiting for the museum to open and took this one looking up from the line. A very cool looking museum!

The Philadelphia Art Museum is decorated with an Eagles banner in preparation for tomorrow's NFC Championship game.

Inspiration from Marcel Duchamp (Bicycle Wheel, 1913) and the hallway at the Modern and Contemporary Hall of the Philadelphia Art Museum. I also emphasized the color palette used in many of Piet Mondrian pieces. OK anyone care to guess where I was yesterday! Woke up this morning and this is what was on my mind.

I was watching her going through some hand holds and various grips along the ledge. No, she was not trying to adjust the poster but merely improving her rock climbing technique (I am assuming)

By the way she was only 2ft off the ground.

Wow, feels like forever since I posted anything here. I’ve been shooting so much time-lapse that I had forgot about some of the shots that I had taken last summer.

Anyhow I thought I post something different than my last shot, so here it is. It’s the first in a two part series of long exposure B&W photographs.

Enjoy!

Philadelphia Museum of Art

The view from the top of the Philadelphia Art Museum steps. Rocky liked it.

a shot taken from the car last night as we drove around the Philadelphia Art Museum on our way home from dinner.

The back entrance to the Philadelphia Art Museum -- in other words, the opposite side of the building where "Rocky" made his triumphant run up the steps in the 1970's film :)

the back of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

Built in 1907, it is a beautiful example of Greek Revival architecture.

After over 6 weeks on the farm, I REALLY needed to get OUT!

For the past month, the art museum has been lit up in blue light every Tuesday evening as a tribute to our medical workers in the city that have worked tirelessly on the front lines during the pandemic.

I wanted to drive down to the city and take a picture.

Every Tuesday this month has been nasty out, but yesterday the weather was stellar. Since it was the last Tuesday of the month, and therefore the last opportunity to get the shot I wanted, we decided to head down to the city.

We took Kelly Drive, which was actually a pleasant drive (vs. the usually nail biting experience you get driving this stretch of road......those of you that are local know what I mean)

We found a parking spot right in front of Boathouse Row and decided to get out and walk along the river behind the art museum where the Waterworks were. It was right before sunset and we had to kill some time before the museum would be lit up, and it's a pretty place to stretch your legs.

There were a few people out enjoying themselves, but everyone was socially distancing, and most everyone had a mask on. We were able to stay to ourselves and enjoy the fine spring evening!

I was just excited to be ANYWHERE taking pictures!

one of the several brtonze Griffins that grace the top of the Philadelphia Art Museum.

This mythological creature, traditionally a guardian of treasure, has served as the symbol of the Museum since the 1970s.

I love the Griffins standing guard, and the wonderful tilework all around the roof line of the museum.

Philadelphia Art Museum lit in blue, in honor of all the medical workers on the front line fighting Covid-19.

What a strange, probably once in a lifetime shot this is.

Not ONE car (or person!) on the parkway!

Larry and I decided to cruise down thru the city last night.

I wanted to get a picture of the museum lit up in blue.

It was very surreal to see the city so devoid of traffic and people.

This is another shot of the Philadelphia Skyline taken earlier during the golden hour from the Spring Garden Street Bridge. Senora Shutterbug and I were scouting the Museum area and couldn't quite find the angle until I spotted the bridge and figured out the best spot to shoot the city was in front of our faces the whole time. We managed to get in a few shots while the sun still lit the skyline. The light was gone rather quickly but I did manage about 4 shots.

Have a great weekend folks and keep shooting.
