This male Pheasant didn't seem to be fazed at all by this mini blizzard back in February. I remember not being able to feel my fingers for a good while afterwards!
As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.
I'm sure you've heard of "Pheasant Under Glass" ...... the truth is they really live more in the Grass!
This is a Male - very colorful!
An unusual find - a pheasant usually seen pecking along the ground has found a jackpot for food on a haybale (this one made of corn stalks). Their winter diet is mostly seed and roots so this is like a giant refrigerator full.
I did get a shot at him pecking into the roll but you dont get enough of the pheasant profile so I used this scene.
From the archives...Don't see many pheasants anymore. Taken at a long distance.
Hope all my Flickr Friends are well! Many thanks for taking a look!❤️
Common name: Pheasant's eye
Every day it's windy outside. Quite a challenge to photography floral images.
Wikipedia: The kalij pheasant (Lophura leucomelanos) is a pheasant found in forests and thickets, especially in the Himalayan foothills, from Pakistan to western Thailand. Males are rather variable depending on the subspecies involved, but all have an at least partially glossy bluish-black plumage, while females are overall brownish. The kalij pheasant is closely related to the silver pheasant, and the two are known to hybridize.

These two pheasants having been facing off each other for the last 3 days. I have never seen this behaviour before so if anyone knows why I would welcome an explanation.
Another Kew shot. These birds are so wonderfully colourfull they look like something out of a Disney cartoon.
This one was on the move the whole time so only got a few shots and a couple of those were out of focus so I was pleased to get this.
Pleasant Pheasant.
At the weekend we drove to one of our local nature reserves to try and catch a glimpse of the Goldcrests, which we did, but they were far too canny to appear for a photoshoot, staying mainly inside the bush where they were feeding on insects. But we did get a visit from this lovely colourful chap!
HBW :)
I actually had two in the garden at the same time this morning. Photo taken through my dirty kitchen window.

I was hidden behind a bush when this beautiful pheasant appeared and walked calmly in front of me, too close to fit into the frame.
Although he heard me and probably saw me, he kept walking looking for food, I think he chose clover.
Pheasant on the terrace fence,, looking some food,, now under frosty season they are coming from forest to backyard to have some food and some good place under bushes and trees to "live"

Male.
Scientific name: Phasianus colchicus.
A handsome gamebird, the pheasant is an introduced species that has settled here with little problem. It can be spotted in its farmland and woodland habitats, although you'll probably hear the loud, croaking call of the male before you see it. Info: The Wildlife Trusts.

The pheasant-tailed jacana breeds in India, southeast Asia, and Indonesia. It is sedentary in much of its range, but northern breeders from south China and the Himalayas migrate into peninsular India and southeast Asia. It is also resident in Taiwan, where it is considered endangered. It has been recorded as a vagrant in Australia.
