The galaxy M33 is found in the constellation Triangulum. It is 3.0 million lightyears away from the Planet Earth. It can be viewed with binoculars from a darksky site as a "Fuzzy Gray Patch".

I was testing MaxIm DL and despite a definite degree of added complexity over Nebulosity2+PHDGuiding+DSS, the overall experience was pretty convincing, especially when cycling thru filters for an almost even amount of light per channel during the night.
Here's the result of almost seven hours of total exposure (L 100 min, Ha 120min, RGB 60 min each) shows the glowing hydrogen nebulae in and around the relatively bright galactic disk.

Inexpensive webcam purchased from RadioShack used as camera feeding PHD autoguiding program which sends tracking corrections to CGEM telescope mount.
X-Y platform under guide scope is used to place guide star on webcam imager with help of its own finder scope (square box). I would use those three screw rings only as a last resort, so a few days later, they were tossed, with the rest of this complicated stuff in favor of two "L" shaped extrusions with slotted holes, as in www.flickr.com/photos/edhiker/6295565182/

I had some help and suggestions on how to get rid of the Amp-glow in my previous effort. After 2 seperate passes of RC Astro's Gradient Exterminator, I ended up with this. I think it is a lot better.

No periodic error seen, other things need more analysis, as seen in original size (pan it).
Skies cleared for one eve, that's it for a few more days.
I had put a 60mm lens on the camera, placed it on a photo pan head, slipping on the pan head in the dark. Took 20 min to rig up a fixed attachment. Took this picture, then quit for the eve. Noticed that the 1/4X20 screw attachment was not stable at all (got the one screw idea from SG-4). Box material too thin. Tonight I tried guiding thru a 9x50 viewfinder connected to an unmodded webcam (Logitech quickcam 3000 pro) It took a good deal of fiddling with PHDGuiding but was able to get decent guiding out of it. At one point I was pulling nearly 6min subs with round stars when aimed at the ecliptic, but after locating my target in Ursa Major, it's accuracy dropped significantly. Still with less than 200mm of focal length, it performed much better than I anticipated. I've decided to stick with what I've got (guiding thru my c9.25 and imaging with my SWBD80ED) for DSO work, but thought this was a fun experiment. I know alot of people who use similar guiding setups with much success. I think the time of rebuilding my LXD75 is getting closer. my backlash is really bad and probably what prevented this guiding setup from being a complete success.

Made another webcam autoguider (called "Shack") - first test, CGEM mount, cheap scope.
For this, used 50mm X 12" FL guider lens, guider mag limit=8.5
8 min exposure with scope= 50 mm dia, f=500mm. Mag limit = 14. Light cirrus.

The transparency was lousy when I took this one and tracking was giving me issues so this one didn't turn out as nice as I'd hoped.
Will have to try and get more data on this one under better conditions...
